About The Position

The Capital Markets Accounting Team is responsible for the integrity and timeliness of the Capital Markets business units’ financial reporting. In this role you will report to the Director, Capital Markets Accounting within the Finance Controllership group. You will embody the CIBC’s One Finance Vision and Guiding Principles. At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate experience and sufficient understanding of concepts and processes for the accounting of complex and/or sensitive information; financial instruments, interest rate products, fixed income and money market products, cross currency derivatives, commodities, options and other vanilla and non-standard derivative transactions.
  • Current accreditation and good standing with CPA or possess the CFA designation.
  • Critical, analytical thinking skills, and sound judgement.
  • Ability to communicate detailed information in an impactful way.
  • Ability to make decisions and take actions that will make a difference today and tomorrow.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advisory support to ensure complete and accurate financial and management accounting information, and supplemental reporting for Trading portfolios within CIBC Capital Markets.
  • Oversee the setup, maintenance, and reporting for multiple trading portfolios.
  • Possess strong teamwork, partnership and relationship building skills sufficient to act in a collaborative manner with various business partners and stakeholders.
  • Provide oversight and advisory over new and ongoing financial reporting processes and continuously enhance, automate and standardize the current processes.
  • Support the Management Team in aspects of improving employee engagement, business partner satisfaction and shareholder value.
  • Provide guidance, training and development to analysts and contribute to their achievement of departmental goals and objectives.
