About The Position

Reduce fraud losses and strengthen our control environment as Senior Manager, Business Risk. You'll serve as a trusted advisor to senior business leaders and Operational Risk teams, designing and executing comprehensive Fraud Risk and Model Risk management practices across WM Canada, WM Europe, WM Asia, Investor Services, and Global Asset Management. Your impact includes anticipating operational risks, conducting root cause analysis, driving remediation, and advancing enterprise-wide best practices. You'll collaborate with Centers of Governance, Compliance, and GRM leadership to position WM as an industry leader in operational risk management.

Requirements

  • 5-8 years of combined knowledge, skill, and background in Operational Risk practices, Audit, or Compliance functions preferably with a focus on fraud or model risk.
  • University Degree and recognized Industry Qualifications –Securities Industry/Investment Management or equivalent courses.
  • Strong understanding of fraud risks in the financial services.
  • Strong problem solving, analytical (including qualitative and quantitative analysis) and research skills are essential as well as advanced desktop skills (e.g., excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to deal effectively with senior management and multiple stakeholders.
  • Effective communication and writing skills with the ability to present information effectively.
  • Consulting mindset with focus on making strategically aligned business recommendations.

Nice To Haves

  • Excellent knowledge of Wealth Management and RBC’s products, processes, and organization.
  • Strong knowledge of wealth advisory, investment management, and financial planning front-office and back-office activities.
  • MBA, CFA, and / or degree in Forensic Accounting.
  • Experience in securities operations within one or more businesses in WM or comparable businesses.
  • Experience supporting Canadian investment dealers, trading, and or/asset management.
  • In depth knowledge of a variety of banking products and services.
  • Ability to drive impact and influence through effective communication and collaborative, non-authoritative, partnerships.

Responsibilities

  • Fraud Risk and Model Risk management programs across WM business units, ensuring compliance with Enterprise standards while balancing risk, operational costs, and client experience.
  • Lead attestation and compliance processes, including quarterly Fraud Monitoring Analysis and semi-annual Model Risk attestations, coordinating across WM business heads and designates.
  • Advise on operational risks associated with major change initiatives, process improvements, and transformational projects, with focus on fraud and model risk impacts.
  • Support regional ORM teams in executing Risk & Control Assessments, risk appetite measures, Key Risk Indicators, and root cause analysis.
  • Embed risk discipline by promoting fraud and model risk as core components of the WM Operational Risk program and leveraging RBC-wide insights and industry best practices.
  • Manage program governance, including evidence archives, operating procedures, and reference materials supporting Fraud and Model Risk initiatives.
