About The Position

TEGNA’s broadcast operations hub, the TEGNA Stream Center, in Charlotte, NC seeks a Senior Manager, Broadcast Hub Operations to join our team. This leadership position is part of the team responsible for the live operation, monitoring and support of the TEGNA broadcast station group, in a single centralized environment. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, capable of working independently or as part of a team and is a proven leader. This position reports directly to the Head of Broadcast Hub Operations.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Proficient in Excel and the entire Microsoft Office 365 suite of tools.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use electronic equipment and computer hardware and software related to television broadcast operations, including video and audio routing equipment, file servers, remote transmitter monitoring equipment and multi-channel automation systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, take immediate action, and resolve broadcast issues
  • Strong customer service attributes and skills
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Unwavering composure in high-pressure situations
  • Acute attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience working successfully as part of a team
  • Must be willing to work in Charlotte, North Carolina
  • Must be willing and available to work flexible hours, including overnight shifts, weekends, holidays in order to meet the needs of a 24x7 operation

Nice To Haves

  • 7+ years of experience in a master control or production control room television environment
  • 5 years managerial experience
  • Proven passion for media, television, and technology

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operation of the TEGNA Stream Center, including leadership of supervisors and operations staff
  • Ensure the on-air integrity of multiple network programming feeds and provide immediate response to mitigate on air issues.
  • Able to perform Live On-Air duties in relation to event/operator coverage when necessary
  • Must have ability to deploy staff in strategic manner to support high profile and live events
  • Strong customer service skills are a must as collaboration with individual station General Managers are required to address concerns or issues.
  • Develop, evaluate, and implement technical and operational training initiatives
  • Implements and/or evolve policies and procedures
  • Provides timely, clear and direct feedback to employees and administers staff performance evaluations
  • Provides leadership, develops teamwork, that focuses on decision making
  • Establish and maintain effective training schedules
  • Respond to changing priorities and adjust as needed
