About The Position

We are looking for a Senior Manager, Business Operations in our Toronto office. This person needs to be resourceful, adaptable, highly organized, and above all else, a very strong communicator. Someone not afraid to roll up their sleeves and be hands-on to get things done, while also being someone who can take a step back and be strategic and calculated with our approach. This role is one that will help shape and execute our business strategies, improve and expand our current operations, and overall, help take ShyftLabs to the next level.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands on experience in business operations
  • A university degree in business administration, management, commerce, or other relevant discipline
  • Prior experience in a startup, consulting firm, or high-growth tech environment
  • Proven experience with contracts and legal coordination
  • Strong financial experience and understanding
  • Ability to quickly adapt and context-shift across business lines
  • A resourceful and proactive approach to business operations
  • Extremely strong communication skills, both written and verbal

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with Government Grants and funding initiatives
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks (ISO, SOC2, etc.) and compliance tools (Vanta, Scrut, etc.)
  • Exposure to financial tools (Ramp, Quickbooks, etc.)
  • Post-secondary business degree

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end contracts process (MSAs, SOWs, NDAs, vendor agreements)
  • Partner with external legal counsel to review and negotiate agreements
  • Maintain contract repository and ensure compliance with terms
  • Identify and apply for relevant government grants and funding programs across North America (SR&ED, IRAP, etc)
  • Manage application processes, reporting requirements, and compliance
  • Support client onboarding and ongoing operational coordination
  • Act as a bridge between internal teams and clients on operational matters
  • Improve client-facing processes, documentation, and communication workflows
  • Support day-to-day financial operations including invoicing, collections, and expense tracking
  • Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
  • Improve financial processes, tools, and visibility into business performance
  • Own internal software stack (licenses, access, cost optimization) including but not limited to: Google Workspace, Slack, Atlassian, AWS, GitHub, PagerDuty, Postman, Figma, Miro, Claude, etc.
  • Manage employee onboarding/offboarding from a systems and access perspective
  • Oversee device procurement, setup, and tracking across the team
  • Support and enforce security best practices across the organization
  • Manage access controls, data security protocols, and internal policies
  • Support ongoing compliance initiatives (e.g., ISO, SOC2, internal policies)
  • Ensure operational efficiency across global teams
  • Ensure strategic alignment across all business lines
