About The Position

The Senior Manager Business Applications - Corporate Applications Portfolio serves as the primary IT partner responsible for the steady-state support of applications within their domain. This role is accountable for developing and managing technology roadmaps, demand prioritization, minor-change delivery, and application stewardship. The position integrates with centralized incident management processes to keep business stakeholders informed and engages subject matter experts (SMEs) as needed. This role oversees the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) for SAP and other solutions, managing both an internal team and an outsourced vendor partner. It acts as a strategic leader and operational driver, responsible for building strong partnerships with business stakeholders, ensuring high-quality delivery, and fostering continuous improvement of the SAP and application platforms.

Requirements

  • University - Bachelor degree or equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of operational processes in utilities or similar industries.
  • Familiarity with ITIL service management practices.
  • Experience leading vendor teams and outsourced development/support services.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage concurrent initiatives in a regulated environment.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with business leadership to understand business capabilities that must be enabled by technology.
  • Translate business priorities into actionable technology initiatives within their assigned technology domain and roadmaps aligned with enterprise standards.
  • Intake, assess, and prioritize minor enhancements and changes to existing operational applications within their assigned domain.
  • Strategize the prioritization and delivery of work based on roadmap and business priorities.
  • Develop capacity plan and lead team to deliver capital technology projects.
  • Lead teams of internal and outsourced developers to deliver application changes that are tested and quality-assured by the business.
  • Manage application enhancements, ensuring adherence to regulatory, security, and performance standards.
  • Direct team to manage user acceptance testing with the business and perform testing as required for QA support.
  • Direct a team of developers providing application support to the SAP incident team.
  • Own end-to-end delivery of SAP eco system applications (e.g., S4 EAM, FICO, SRM, GIS, OMS, SAP BTP/Fiori apps), ensuring scalability, security, compliance, and high-quality outcomes.
  • Oversee the full SDLC (requirements, design, build, test, deploy, support), embedding agile and DevOps best practices.
  • Run backlog and requirements processes; define non-functional requirements (availability, performance, security, usability); coordinate UAT and readiness with business owners.
  • Orchestrate releases with IT Ops (shared enterprise release calendar), publish run notes, and ensure post-release stabilization.
  • Establish and monitor delivery performance metrics, quality standards, and KPIs tied to business impact.
  • Prepare options, estimates, and benefit cases; facilitate prioritization through governance; align approved work to quarterly plans.
  • Manage SAP TCO levers with Procurement/Vendor Management (licenses, AMS run/enhance mix) and recommend optimizations.
  • Ensure issues, risks, dependencies, and change requests are logged, escalated, and resolved with transparent stakeholder communication.
  • Manage strategic relationships with outsourced vendor partners, ensuring accountability and high-quality delivery.
  • Support the negotiation of and monitor the adherence to vendor contracts, SLAs, and budgets to optimize value and cost efficiency.
  • Coordinate work between internal teams and vendor resources to maintain alignment, transparency, and delivery efficiency.
  • Ensure operational applications remain reliable, resilient, and compliant with regulatory requirements.
  • Track and monitor vendor performance, cost, and availability; drive continuous improvement through KPIs and user satisfaction metrics.
  • Monitor and mitigate risks, dependencies, and incidents in collaboration with IT Operations and Enterprise Architecture.
  • Partner with IT OPS to identify P1/2/3/impacts from known incidents.
  • Integrate with centralized incident support to ensure business stakeholders are informed of service issues and resolutions.
