About The Position

The Senior Manager Business Analysis & Requirements Management serves as a leader and requirements management expert, overseeing a team of geographically distributed Business Analysts supporting transformation initiatives at RBC Bank (US). This role combines hands-on requirements management expertise with thought leadership across business and technology. Key responsibilities include directing the requirements management process, ensuring high-quality and consistent deliverables, providing hands-on support during critical initiatives, and continuously improving Business Analysis (BA) processes and tools. The role also drives AI adoption to enhance efficiency and advocates for the BA practice across the organization, synthesizing insights from multiple initiatives to identify RBC Bank-wide trends and opportunities. The Senior Manager Business Analysis & Requirements Management is equally focused on talent development and creating a high-performing team culture. Responsibilities include recruiting and retaining top BA talent, mentoring analysts through structured performance reviews, and professional development plans aligned to the enterprise Business Analyst training map, and providing coaching insights from observation of BA work. The leader manages resource allocation across initiatives with proactive reporting and escalation to leadership, leads the team in the creation of reusable templates and artifacts, and ensures BA activities align with enterprise requirements management standards, governance, compliance, and change management frameworks. This role leads a team that bridges business and technology teams while driving excellence in requirements management, team performance, and BA practice maturation.

Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years in a business analysis role in financial services
  • Minimum 2 years in people management experience or considerable experience leading and coaching others on requirements planning, analysis, documentation, and requirements management
  • Minimum 2 years in digital transformation related initiatives
  • Technical acumen
  • Experience operating in both Agile and Waterfall environments with accountability for requirements accuracy and completeness
  • Experience using Jira and Confluence
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, or related field
  • Business Analysis Certification (e.g. IIBA- CCBA/CBAP, PMI-PBA)
  • Familiar with RBC Requirements CoE standards

Responsibilities

  • Provide direction and expertise on the requirements management process for a team of Business Analysts (BA), supporting digital transformation initiatives across RBC Bank (US)
  • Accountable to the quality of BA deliverables to ensure consistent approach and successful project execution, that meet the business initiative needs and aligned to the delivery methodology
  • Provide hands-on consultation and support for key initiatives early in their planning or in moments of high complexity during execution, supporting Digital Product Manager / Project Sponsor Rep understanding of requirements process and considerations.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve BA processes, tools, and approaches to enhance team efficiency
  • Provide thought leadership to management teams across business and technology teams, in needs assessment, solution architecture, and execution
  • Resolve requirements conflicts and issues escalated from the project team and seek further leadership support when necessary
  • Leverage Requirements CofE and create reusable templates, tools, and requirements artifacts for the RBC Bank BA team
  • Drive AI adoption within the BA team to improve efficiency and comprehensiveness of requirements artifacts
  • Build strong organizational structure awareness, to ensure Business Analysts (BA) are comprehensively engaging business, risk and technology stakeholders across RBC Bank
  • Keep BA team informed of all organizational changes that may impact their respective process, people and tools
  • Ensure BA activities and deliverables adhere to change management, compliance, and governance frameworks
  • Synthesize findings from multiple initiatives to identify RBC Bank-wide trends and opportunities to share with leadership
  • Advocate for standardized BA Practice, sharing success stories from following a formalized requirements management approach and documentation across the organization that is consistent with Enterprise requirements management standard
  • Recruit, onboard, and retain top business analysis talent
  • Perform ongoing initiative resourcing management with routine reporting and proactive escalation of any resourcing concerns
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performing team culture, with routine opportunities to share knowledge and celebrate personal milestones and professional successes
  • Mentor, and develop the team; conduct thorough performance reviews, identify capabilities gaps, and ensure professional development plans are created
  • Career and skills development coaching, sharing manager insights from observation of BA elicitation sessions and BA deliverable reviews
  • Routinely meet with key initiative Digital Product Managers and Sponsor Representatives, and take decisive corrective action on any feedback and address any performance concerns
  • Identification of training opportunities and standardization of training path for Business Analysts
