Requirements

  • Progressive experience in billing operations, order-to-cash, or revenue operations with at least 3 years in a management or leadership role
  • Hands-on experience managing subscription billing at a SaaS company including billing cycles, proration, mid-term changes, and renewal workflows
  • Familiarity with embedded payments or payment processing operations
  • Experience owning or closely managing a billing platform (Chargebee, Stripe Billing, or equivalent) and its integration to an ERP
  • Working understanding of ASC 606 as it relates to billing configuration and able to partner with Accounting on revenue recognition without requiring translation
  • Demonstrated ability to build processes, playbooks, and reporting frameworks from scratch in a high-growth environment
  • Experience at a venture or PE-backed company preferred — familiar with reporting cadence and monthly close discipline
  • CPA or accounting background is a plus; candidates who can navigate accounting conversations independently are strongly preferred
  • Strong cross-functional communicator — comfortable partnering with GTM, CS, R&D, FP&A , and Accounting as a peer and pushing back constructively when needed
  • SMB-focused SaaS experience is a meaningful differentiator

Responsibilities

  • Own the full order-to-cash lifecycle across SaaS subscriptions from invoice generation through cash collection and GL handoff
  • Administer and optimize the billing platform (configuration, rate tables, product catalog, CRM/ERP integration) and serve as the internal subject matter expert
  • Manage the collections and dunning strategy including dunning logic, escalation thresholds, aging AR, and involuntary churn reduction
  • Create and own Deal Desk on non-standard billing structures evaluating feasibility before signature, maintain the Billing Playbook, and train Sales on billing capabilities and constraints
  • Own the billing-to-Accounting handoff at month-end close to ensure accuracy of data flowing into revenue recognition and resolve billing exceptions before timely close
  • Build and maintain a billing operations KPI dashboard: invoicing accuracy, DSO, collection rate, failed payment rate, and dispute resolution time
  • Lead any billing system migration or upgrade projects, including vendor evaluation and implementation oversight
  • Build and develop the Billing Operations team as transaction volume and complexity scale with the business
  • Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Customer Success, Accounting, Engineering, and FP&A to resolve billing issues and support operational alignment
