About The Position

The Senior Applications Manager provides global leadership and strategic direction for the enterprise application portfolio supporting Quality Management Systems (QMS), Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Data & Analytics, and Integration Platforms within a global medical device manufacturing organization. The role is accountable for strategy, roadmaps, lifecycle management, delivery, reliability, compliance, and continuous improvement of these platforms. It partners with business and technology functions to ensure capabilities support business strategy, regulatory requirements, product innovation, operational excellence, and global scalability. The Senior Applications Manager leads internal application teams and strategic technology partners, establishing governance, platform ownership, and architectural standards. The role balances global standardization with business needs, reduces application complexity, modernizes legacy capabilities, improves integration and data accessibility, and ensures platforms are secure, validated, resilient, and fit for purpose. The position also directs functional group development and effectiveness; manages application performance, upgrades, enhancements, security, validation, and maintenance; oversees resources and delivery of projects; participates in strategic planning; establishes operational policies and processes; and fosters strong client and business relationships. The role promotes project and service management practices and delivers business and IT strategic initiatives.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or equivalent education and experience sufficient to perform the essential job functions.
At least 12 years of experience.
At least 7 years of IT management experience in areas of responsibility and similar broad-based, senior-level roles within a comparably sized or larger company.
In-depth understanding of technology, IT tools, and methods applicable to the applications area.
Demonstrated success leading large, complex projects within budget and meeting deadlines.
Ability to align organizational and business goals and drive and manage organizational change.
Leadership and management abilities, including developing, coaching, and training others in an organizational setting.
Ability to interact with diplomacy and tact while maintaining focus on the end goal.
Strong background developing and maintaining effective internal IT processes.
Experience in vendor relations and negotiations.
Understanding of basic accounting and financial principles.
Ability to understand business processes and design solutions that address the business problem.
Success in selecting, managing, motivating, educating, and evaluating others.
Business plan development and implementation skills to define strategic direction for cross-functional areas.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Equivalent competency acquired through a variation of the listed qualifications may be considered.

Nice To Haves

Experience leading Business Intelligence reporting teams or disciplines; Power BI, SAP BW, S/4 BDC, and Databricks are preferred.
Experience with QMS/PLM systems; PTC Windchill is strongly preferred.
Experience overseeing integration platforms; Dell Boomi and SAP BTP are preferred.
International experience supporting and working with global organizations.

Responsibilities

Provide leadership, direction, tools, and support to managers and supervisors for daily operations and functional group development.
Guide and coach staff in job performance, professional development, and interpersonal development in alignment with Terumo BCT values and behavior principles.
Manage assigned business applications to meet business needs and IT standards, including upgrades, performance, functionality enhancements, security, validation, and maintenance.
Manage a portfolio that may include internally developed and third-party software applications.
Ensure the team has appropriate direction and resources to deliver high-quality projects on schedule and within budget.
Participate in and promote team participation in cross-functional and inter-organizational teams; lead teams or task groups when scope is broad or issues are complex.
Analyze financial performance reports and interpret their implications for the area of responsibility and other areas of the business.
Define and implement operational policies, processes, and procedures.
Participate in strategy and long-range planning within areas of responsibility in support of business and IT strategies.
Maintain and update strategic plans through iterations and annual updates.
Provide quality client service and respond proactively to client needs.
Analyze changing business and customer needs and plan organizational or system changes to address them.
Recommend changes to other areas to improve overall operational effectiveness.
Maintain constructive relationships with customers and business entities served, and promote such relationships throughout the organization.
