About The Position

Bealls Inc. is hiring a Senior Manager of Application Engineering to lead its enterprise application development organization. The role advances modern, cloud-native architecture on Microsoft Azure and an AI-augmented software development lifecycle while overseeing end-to-end delivery, including capacity, execution, quality, production support, and partner management across business areas. The position is accountable both for developing new capabilities and for keeping the established application portfolio stable, secure, supported, and progressively modernized. The Senior Manager leads and develops engineers and engineering managers, sets technical direction and engineering standards, and manages hiring, performance, and career development. The role directs delivery across concurrent product lines, including capacity planning, agile sprint execution, release management, support service levels, quality, and external delivery partners. The role delivers cloud-native applications on Azure for web, mobile, and handheld/PDA surfaces; guides integration architecture toward Azure-based integrations and publish/subscribe patterns; and makes architecture decisions with leadership and domain teams. It also guides delivery of AI applications such as conversational assistants, retrieval-augmented experiences, and agentic workflows, and promotes measured use of AI development tools across the software development lifecycle. This is a permanent, fully onsite position based in Bradenton, Florida. The stated pay range is $160,000–$180,000 per year. Bealls provides standard benefits. The position is anticipated to close on October 15, 2026.

  • Ability to lead delivery across multiple concurrent teams or product lines, including capacity planning, sprint execution, quality, and production support.
  • Experience designing or delivering integration/messaging architectures such as publish/subscribe, event-driven, or service-bus architectures, and migrating off legacy ETL tooling.
  • Track record of modernizing or maintaining an established application portfolio while shipping new capabilities in parallel.
  • Experience managing external delivery partners alongside full-time staff.
  • Strong architecture and technical judgment, with ability to communicate decisions to engineers and executives.

Nice To Haves

  • Delivery experience with AI/LLM applications, including retrieval-augmented generation, orchestration frameworks, agentic patterns, and AI-in-the-SDLC practices.
  • Retail, off-price, or merchandising/supply-chain domain exposure.
  • Familiarity with .NET MAUI or mobile/PDA/handheld delivery for store and warehouse environments.
  • Exposure to payment-device/PIN PAD applications and associated security/PCI considerations.

  • Run agile sprint planning, execution, and release management across business areas.
  • Own production support, service-level commitments, and incident escalation for the application portfolio.
  • Set and enforce standards for code quality, testing, security, branch governance, and observability.
  • Direct external delivery partners on scope, quality, throughput, and skills mix.
  • Deliver cloud-native applications on Microsoft Azure across web, mobile (.NET MAUI), and handheld/PDA surfaces.
  • Drive integration architecture toward Azure-based integrations and publish/subscribe patterns, retiring legacy ETL and file-transfer tooling and localizing transformation at endpoints.
  • Keep the established .NET and C# application portfolio stable, secure, and supported while identifying modernization opportunities.
  • Make architecture decisions in partnership with leadership and domain teams.
  • Guide delivery of AI applications, including conversational assistants, retrieval-augmented experiences, and agentic workflows, with appropriate grounding, access control, and human-in-the-loop review.
