How we LEAD: We are looking for an experienced Senior Manager, Analytics & Strategy to lead high-impact analytical projects that drive UMG’s strategy across key business objectives, including label strategy, audience engagement, artist development and fan monetization. This role requires a strong blend of technical analytics expertise and strategic thinking, with the ability to translate complex datasets into clear, actionable insights that inform decision-making across UMG’s labels and local markets. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, collaborative thinker who is passionate about leveraging data to shape the future of the music industry, with a deep appreciation for creativity, analytical rigor, and consumer behaviour. Success in this role requires deep hands-on analytics experience, exceptional attention to detail, and a proven track record of building scalable analytical frameworks that enable consistent, high-impact insights. The candidate should also bring strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, matrixed environment. This role will oversee junior team member(s), providing mentorship, reviewing analyses, and guiding day-to-day execution to ensure high-quality outputs.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience in analytics or data science roles, ideally within entertainment, media, sports, e-commerce or a related consumer-facing industry.
  • Experience managing or mentoring junior team members in analytics roles, ideally with 2+ years of people management experience
  • Strong foundation in core analytics concepts, including trend analysis, forecasting, segmentation, and performance benchmarking.
  • Strong technical skills: Advanced SQL proficiency for data querying, manipulation, aggregation, and analysis, ideally within a large-scale data warehouse environment (experience with Google BigQuery a plus).
  • Advanced Excel skills, including data manipulation, complex formulas, pivot tables, and analytical modeling.
  • Experience working with large datasets from multiple sources (e.g., streaming, sales, e-commerce, audience, social media data).
  • Hands-on experience building and maintaining automated dashboards using tools such as Tableau or Looker.
  • Proven ability to create clear, compelling client-ready deliverables and presentations using Keynote or Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, work to tight deadlines, and operate with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills, with the ability to translate complex analytical concepts into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders at all technical levels.
  • Passion for music and a working understanding of the music industry ecosystem, including streaming platforms, audience behavior, and revenue models.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python or R for data wrangling, analysis, visualization, and workflow automation (preferred, not required).
  • Experience working with data from market measurement providers such as Luminate, Nielsen, or equivalent industry data sources (preferred, not required).
  • Experience analyzing e-commerce data, with an understanding of industry KPIs, the ability to surface trends in sales performance, and apply insights to optimize retail and direct-to-consumer strategies (preferred, not required).

Responsibilities

  • Lead high-impact analytics projects end-to-end – from scoping and methodology design through data wrangling, analysis, visualization, and insight delivery – using compelling storytelling to enable strategic decision-making.
  • Partner closely with stakeholders across labels, insights, and commercial teams to translate business questions into clear analytical frameworks and actionable insight outputs aligned with business objectives.
  • Develop story-led presentations communicate clear, concise insights to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership.
  • Build and maintain dashboards, automated reports, and BI tools to monitor audience behavior, content performance and commercial outcomes across platforms and markets.
  • Analyze consumption trends across mulitple data sources (streaming, e-commerce, social media, physical sales and more) to uncover actionable insights.
  • Navigate challenges associated with incomplete, fragmented, or unstructured data by applying creative, methodologically sound approaches to fill gaps and ensure analytical rigor.
  • Explore new datasets, develop scalable analytical frameworks, and optimize data workflows (including automation where applicable) to drive efficiency and keep UMG at the forefront of data-driven innovation.
  • Oversee junior team member(s), providing hands-on guidance on day-to-day analytical work, reviewing outputs and ensuring a high standard of rigor, accuracy and quality in all deliverables.
