Senior Manager, Advanced Analytics

Justworks•New York, NY
•$240,000 - $310,000

About The Position

Justworks is hiring a Senior Manager, Advanced Analytics to build and lead a data science team focused on advanced analytics for Finance, Marketing, and Product Marketing. Reporting to the Senior Director, Enterprise Analytics, this role will give dedicated focus and depth to work that Justworks has performed for years, while establishing a long-term roadmap. The team’s work will inform major business decisions, including investment allocation, pricing, and planning. The role owns the models behind those decisions: selecting appropriate methods, building models with the team, and standing behind recommendations when leaders act on them. It requires working effectively with imperfect data and questions that may not allow for clean experiments, while explaining forecasts, experiments, models, tradeoffs, and uncertainty to technical and non-technical audiences. The Senior Manager will set analytical methods and standards, partner with business leaders to frame decisions and technical approaches, and collaborate with Data Governance and Analytics Engineering to ensure models use trusted data. The role will also establish standards for AI-assisted analytics, including appropriate use, human review, and validation of analytical and model outputs. Success calls for sound judgment, stakeholder partnership, clear communication, leadership, collaboration, and alignment with Justworks’ COGIS values: Camaraderie, Openness, Grit, Integrity, and Simplicity.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience in data science or advanced analytics, with depth in at least two of forecasting and LTV, marketing mix modeling, pricing research, or causal inference.
  • At least 3 years of people management experience, with a track record of developing and managing high-performing data science or analytics teams.
  • Experience using Python for statistical analysis and modeling, working SQL, and fluency in experimentation and causal inference.
  • Strong statistical foundation, including regression, time-series forecasting, Bayesian methods, and quasi-experimental design such as difference-in-differences and synthetic control.
  • Track record of building and defending models that inform decisions about a budget, price, or plan.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with a track record of turning complex analysis into clear recommendations that drive executive decisions.
  • Experience partnering with VP-level and above stakeholders and reframing and scoping their requests.
  • Active use of AI in analytical work and a clear point of view on its strengths, limitations, and how outputs should be checked.
  • Degree in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent experience.

  • Develop and implement an Advanced Analytics roadmap aligned with company priorities and the needs of Finance, Marketing, and Product Marketing.

  • Develop financial and business models, including revenue, churn, and lifetime value models, to inform annual plans, targets, and investment choices.
  • Guide marketing budget allocation across channels, including offline and out-of-home, using marketing mix modeling.
  • Conduct pricing research, including conjoint analysis and willingness-to-pay analysis, to inform pricing and packaging.
  • Use experiments, holdouts, geo tests, and quasi-experimental methods to establish causal impact and incrementality.
  • Partner with business leaders to clarify decisions and design appropriate technical approaches.
  • Own the methods behind team models and partner with Data Governance and Analytics Engineering to ensure models rely on trusted data.
