About The Position
Superior Group of Companies (NASDAQ: SGC) is seeking a Senior Manager, Accounting to join our corporate accounting team in St. Petersburg, Florida. This is a high-impact leadership role for an accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and wants to drive both operational excellence and process improvement. Reporting to the VP Corporate Controller, you will lead critical aspects of the monthly close process, oversee a talented accounting team, support SOX compliance efforts, and help optimize accounting processes through automation and technology.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA required
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Public company accounting experience
- Strong understanding of GAAP, SOX compliance, internal controls, and financial reporting
- Experience leading monthly close processes and managing accounting teams
- Proven ability to improve processes, streamline workflows, and leverage technology to increase efficiency
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Nice To Haves
- Big 4 public accounting experience preferred, ideally 5+ years
- SAP experience preferred; candidates with strong ERP expertise may also be considered
Responsibilities
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process for a significant business division
- Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting activities
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, SOX requirements, and internal controls
- Serve as a key partner during internal and external audits
- Manage and develop a team that includes direct reports and shared services resources
- Drive accountability, process discipline, and continuous improvement across the accounting function
- Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve the efficiency and accuracy of the close cycle
- Partner cross-functionally with finance, operations, and business leaders to support organizational goals
- Take ownership of your area of responsibility and proactively drive issues through resolution
