About The Position

Mitsubishi Chemical America is seeking a Senior Manager, Accounting to join their Finance organization. This role is an opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to take ownership of the month-end close, partner with business leaders, and help drive sound financial decisions across a diverse manufacturing organization. The position supports multiple manufacturing sites across the United States, as well as operations in Michigan and Brazil. The Senior Manager, Accounting will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting while identifying opportunities to improve processes and enhance efficiency. This role offers broad responsibility, high visibility, and the opportunity to make an impact.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required (CPA highly preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong experience managing month-end close and financial reporting.
  • Knowledge of IFRS and internal controls.
  • Experience with SAP or another large ERP system.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across the organization.
  • The ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • A commitment to accuracy, integrity, professionalism, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the monthly financial close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Prepare and submit monthly reporting packages while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial statements.
  • Analyze financial results and explain variances against budgets and forecasts, providing meaningful insights to business leaders.
  • Ensure compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and company accounting policies.
  • Prepare annual tax reporting packages and support both internal and external audits.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls throughout the organization.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and leverage SAP to automate manual tasks and increase reporting efficiency.
  • Prepare both recurring and ad hoc financial analyses to support strategic business decisions.
  • Manage the company's Travel & Expense (Concur) and corporate card programs.
  • Partner with leadership across multiple business units, serving as a trusted advisor on accounting and financial matters.
