The Sr. Accounting Manager's purpose is to provide the highest quality service and information to internal and external customers by maximizing the team's potential. This role requires research, complex project completion, and innovation identification. The position ensures the daily operations of the accounting team are completed efficiently and effectively through thorough review of reports, quality checks, and team mentoring. The Sr. Accounting Manager will support Jackson Healthcare Resource Team leaders and manage complex ad hoc projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • CPA required.
  • MBA required.
  • Management experience of people (direct or indirect) or projects is required.
  • 8-10 years of financial accounting and budgeting experience, including supervisory or lead experience, required.
  • Advance knowledge of advanced financial accounting practices and procedures including consolidations.
  • Comprehensive understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, government regulations, and reporting requirements.
  • Significant knowledge and experience with complex budgeting, costing, pricing, and forecasting practices and procedures.
  • Understands related automated accounting applications, auditing, and data processing functions.
  • Ability to research complex or technical accounting issues and document conclusions in accordance with GAAP.
  • Superior communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent analytical abilities and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage and coordinate projects with multiple individuals and departments as well as be an individual contributor.
  • Able to use computer and peripheral equipment.
  • Ability to apply logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions and can deal with multiple variables.
  • Ability to perform basic statistical calculations including frequency distributions, reliability and validity of tests, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, and sampling theory and factor analysis.

Nice To Haves

  • Public Accounting experience in audit and assurance preferred.
  • Knowledge of technology function (Hardware, Software/SAAS, Capitalized Software) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and mentorship.
  • Provide leadership through effective objective setting, delegation, and communication.
  • Interview and select accounting interns.
  • Direct, schedule, and coordinate area functions.
  • Support associates in understanding and following accounting controls and policies.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop accounting staff, building bench strength and succession plans.
  • Prepare and oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements (balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements) in accordance with GAAP.
  • Serve as the subject-matter expert on technical accounting matters, researching, concluding, and documenting accounting positions.
  • Conduct regular financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide insightful analysis to support management decision-making.
  • Prepare financial reports and analysis for department leaders detailing expenses, controllable costs, and capital projects.
  • Perform and oversee special studies for management, including ratio and trend analyses.
  • Complete cost analysis for capital improvement projects and other changes.
  • Manage department leaders’ budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Assist in developing long and short-run budgeting and operational goals and objectives.
  • Develop, recommend, implement, and monitor budgeting and operational plans, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Responsible for month-end complex balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the annual audit process with external auditors, including preparation of audit schedules and supporting documentation.
  • Validate all financial values in the financial statements and footnotes.
  • Address audit findings and implement recommendations for improvement.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Company and external auditors.
  • Draft new footnotes as needed.
  • Partner with the Accounting Information Systems team on the implementation and maintenance of financial systems and processes.
  • Evaluate established systems and processes to ensure compliance with changing regulations, legal requirements, and industry trends.
  • Collaborate with department leaders to develop and execute strategic initiatives, providing financial insights and analysis.
  • Keep management informed of area activities and significant problems.
  • Attend and participate in meetings and committees as required.
  • Present financial results, analyses, and recommendations to senior and executive leadership.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with all Company associates.
  • Ensure appropriate levels of confidentiality and security are maintained.
