Senior Manager, Accounting
About The Position
New Hampshire Housing is seeking a Senior Manager, Accounting to provide hands-on leadership across key accounting functions. This role will lead accounting operations that directly support the organization's mission of making housing opportunities possible for people across New Hampshire. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical accounting knowledge with people leadership, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. The work of the Finance & Accounting team is crucial for keeping programs strong, compliant, and moving forward, having helped more than 55,000 families achieve homeownership, supported the development of over 16,000 multifamily housing units, and managed thousands of Housing Choice Vouchers annually.
Requirements
- Experience compiling federal reports in compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Strong understanding of accounting controls and compliance with GASB regulations.
- Strong accounting knowledge and experience.
- Strong ability to leverage computerized financial and accounting systems.
- Experience with Microsoft 365 suite.
- Master’s degree in a related field and at least three years relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Responsibilities
- Lead and monitor daily accounting activities to ensure accurate asset portfolios, program administration, reporting, and compliance with internal controls, policies, and applicable state and federal regulations.
- Ensure transactions are recorded accurately and on time, supporting monthly financial reporting and reducing financial risk.
- Manage the annual external audit process, coordinating data gathering, control procedures, schedules, and communication with key stakeholders.
- Prepare and oversee financial and accounting reports, ensuring information is accurate, timely, and useful.
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of accounting professionals by setting clear expectations, providing ongoing feedback, and creating opportunities for professional growth.
