About The Position

Lead accounting operations that directly support New Hampshire Housing's mission and the programs residents rely on. This role combines strong technical accounting knowledge with people leadership, collaboration, and problem-solving. The Senior Manager, Accounting will lead and monitor daily accounting activities to ensure accurate asset portfolios, program administration, reporting, and compliance with internal controls, policies, and applicable state and federal regulations. This includes ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and on time, preparing and overseeing financial and accounting reports, and managing the annual external audit process. The role also involves leading, coaching, and developing a team of accounting professionals.

Requirements

  • Experience compiling federal reports in compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Strong understanding of accounting controls and compliance with GASB regulations.
  • Strong accounting knowledge and experience.
  • Strong ability to leverage computerized financial and accounting systems.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 suite.
  • Master's degree in a related field and at least three years relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and monitor daily accounting activities to ensure accurate asset portfolios, program administration, reporting, and compliance with internal controls, policies, and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Ensure transactions are recorded accurately and on time, supporting monthly financial reporting and reducing financial risk.
  • Manage the annual external audit process, coordinating data gathering, control procedures, schedules, and communication with key stakeholders.
  • Prepare and oversee financial and accounting reports, ensuring information is accurate, timely, and useful.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of accounting professionals by setting clear expectations, providing ongoing feedback, and creating opportunities for professional growth.
