About The Position

This role is responsible for leading the Accounting and Controllership activities across key Carrier sub-business units which may include Commercial Equipment (“Applied”), Rentals, and NLYTE. You will oversee critical financial processes such as accounting operations, consolidations, reporting, and analysis, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strong financial performance. Reporting to the CSA Commercial Controller, this position also provides leadership to a team of up to 4 direct reports, fostering a collaborative, high-performing environment that supports both individual growth and business objectives. In this role, you will play a key part in strengthening financial and internal control processes, supporting and partnering with cross-functional teams, and contributing to the organization’s continued financial success.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in Accounting/Finance with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting / Finance / Commerce / Economics / Business Administration, or 4+ years of experience in Accounting/Finance with a Master’s Degree in Accounting / Finance / Commerce / Economics / Business Administration.
  • 3+ years people management experience.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA or CMA preferred, but not required
  • Strong PC skills including Microsoft Excel, ERP Applications, SAP, and HFM
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of accounting principles and internal control procedures
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present recommendations effectively to management
  • Adaptable/Self starter
  • Attention to detail and delivering a quality work product on time
  • Ability to work cross-functionally to solve business process issues
  • Experience with software accounting a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Foster and promote a culture of continuous improvement across accounting processes and team practices
  • Lead, coach, and develop a diverse accounting team, supporting both performance and career growth
  • Oversee and manage the month-end close and consolidation processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness
  • Review and approve monthly journal entries in accordance with accounting standards
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of account reconciliations, while driving ongoing improvements in reconciliation processes
  • Provide accounting guidance and support to cross-functional stakeholders (Finance, Sales, Operations, etc.)
  • Maintain and continuously enhance accounting standard work instructions (SWIs) and documentation
  • Prepare and/or review monthly and quarterly balance sheet fluctuation analyses
  • Support SOX compliance and internal control activities
  • Manage accruals and reserves, including inputs and detailed balance sheet reviews
  • Prepare and review ERP trial balances or CFIN for HFM submission, including all required supplemental data
  • Collaborate closely with CFOs and business/finance partners to support decision-making and business performance
  • Contribute to ad hoc projects and initiatives as requested by the Controller and business/finance leadership
