About The Position

This role involves performing expert level break-fix and preventative maintenance on devices and machinery. The technician will observe devices in operation to locate the root cause of problems, dismantle devices to access and remove defective parts, examine parts for imperfections, adjust functional parts, repair or replace defective parts, test devices for performance, and perform tests on electrical circuitry and mechanical systems. They will also recondition and repair machine tools, identify and source necessary parts and supplies, and evaluate alternatives to improve equipment cost and reliability. The role requires independent maintenance according to industry standards, collaboration with Planner Schedulers to optimize preventative maintenance procedures, and potentially operating multiple machining operations and performing welding tasks. Additionally, the technician will maintain 5S and housekeeping standards, lead and participate in Continuous Improvement (CI) activities using CI tools and methodology, provide assistance to lower-level technicians and leadership, troubleshoot complex control systems, utilize predictive maintenance technologies, update records, review CMMS history, and complete on-the-job training. Safety is paramount, requiring adherence to all safety policies and guidelines, and identifying unsafe behaviors and conditions.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent (GED).
  • Associates degree with a Technical focus and 5 years of related experience in specific industry; or, 7 years of experience in specific industry.
  • Experience in predictive technologies, precision alignments, and general maintenance of applicable process equipment.
  • Understands electrical, mechanical, fluid power and control systems.
  • Can analyze problems, synthesize alternative solutions, and perform repairs.
  • Must be able to use basic hand tools and specialized tools as appropriate.
  • Experience in vibration analysis or laser interferometer operations, precision alignments, and maintenance of applicable process equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Performs expert level break-fix & preventative maintenance, including observing devices, dismantling, examining parts, adjusting, repairing/replacing parts, testing, and reconditioning machine tools.
  • Identifies and sources parts, supplies, and repair items, and evaluates alternatives for cost and reliability improvement.
  • Independently performs maintenance as per industry standards.
  • Works with Planner Scheduler to optimize preventative maintenance procedures.
  • May set up and operate multiple machining operations (lathe, drill press, grinder, etc.) and perform welding tasks.
  • Complies with 5S and housekeeping standards.
  • Leads, drives, and participates in CI activities using CI tools and methodology.
  • Provides assistance to lower level technicians and leadership, and performs expert functions for training and development.
  • Troubleshoots and analyzes complex control systems for software/hardware and configuration problems.
  • Utilizes predictive maintenance technologies to collect equipment performance data, observes trends, and makes recommendations.
  • Updates records, reviews CMMS history, and analyzes data.
  • Completes and conducts on-the-job training and technical self-study programs.
  • Follows all safety related policies, rules, regulations, technical instructions and guidelines, and identifies unsafe behaviors and conditions.
