About The Position

The Facilities Management and Capital Planning department provides for the management and maintenance of 62 state-owned courthouses, and 42 leased facilities located in ten counties of the Commonwealth. The Department is committed to administering effective property management, facility operations, facility renewal, and the delivery of quality customer service in support of the administration of justice throughout the Commonwealth. This position performs a variety of skilled, unlicensed maintenance trades including painters, masons, and carpenters. It maintains mechanical equipment and building infrastructure to ensure safety and uninterrupted facility operations. The role uses a central building insight system to track facility needs and ensure safe operations. This position is considered essential personnel in certain emergencies and may be required to work outside of regularly scheduled hours, including staying late or coming in early. There may be occasional traveling in this position.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalency
  • Four (4) years of related work experience
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered for meeting minimum qualifications
  • Knowledge of in one or more of the following areas: Masonry, Painting, Carpentry, Machinery, HVAC systems
  • Skill in: Verbal and written communication, Maintenance and repair, Systems maintenance, Use of hand and power tools, Paint application and other finishes
  • Ability to: Maintain accurate records, Use measurement devices, Climb and work from scaffolds and ladders

Nice To Haves

  • Applicable trades certification is a plus
  • Knowledge of: Building structures, OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration), Bio-hazard clean up, Building evacuation clean up, Chemical handling, Safety equipment, State and local electrical codes, Lock out/tag out, Purchasing, Maintenance software

Responsibilities

  • Maintains courthouse building and grounds.
  • Contributes to the efforts of maintaining a clean facility.
  • Provides preventative maintenance to equipment, machinery and tools.
  • Performs painting, patching and general building repairs.
  • Repairs, installs and tests multiple systems and equipment.
  • Maintains heating, ventilation and cooling equipment.
  • Initiates request for various parts and equipment as necessary.
  • Schedules and escorts contractors.
  • Fills out daily lock out/ tag out log.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Ability to travel to court locations as necessary.
