About The Position

We’re seeking a talented Senior Maintenance & Reliability Engineer to join our team specializing in Manufacturing for our Morristown, TN Cummins location. In this role, you will make an impact by driving stronger cross-functional alignment with engineering, operations, and safety teams to meet shared production and quality objectives. You will tailor technical and operational messages to diverse groups, ensuring clarity, reducing misinterpretation, and accelerating decision-making. You will model proactive safety behaviors, identify risks early, and influence others to build an interdependent, injury-free workplace culture. You will recognize electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic risks and integrate safe practices into daily work plans, directly reducing incidents and downtime. You will interpret product and equipment drawings to design manufacturing processes that meet specifications and improve manufacturability. You will influence capital decisions by selecting equipment that meets technical requirements, improves capability, and supports long-term operational goals. You will identify waste, implement improvement methodologies, and reduce cost while improving quality and throughput. You will apply controls hardware and software expertise to ensure new and upgraded equipment integrates seamlessly with manufacturing systems.

Requirements

  • College, university, or equivalent degree required.
  • Intermediate level of relevant work experience required.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues related to Forging press, Ejector system, Clutch mechanism, spindle systems, ball screws, linear guides, hydraulic units etc.
  • Perform root cause analysis for recurring equipment failures and implement permanent corrective actions.
  • Understanding of machine electrical schematics along with PLC troubleshooting is essential.
  • Maintain forging presses, billet heaters, conveyors, CNC Machine, Broaches and plant utility equipment.
  • Ensure proper alignment, balance, and installation of mechanical equipment.
  • Support machine accuracy improvement through calibration and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Maintain heat treatment furnaces, quench tanks, tempering furnaces, atmosphere control systems, burners, fans, and cooling systems.
  • Prepare spare parts specifications and procurement requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with plant safety procedures, lockout/tagout (LOTO), permit-to-work systems, and statutory requirements.
  • Conduct risk assessments before maintenance activities.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to maintenance personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Maximize equipment availability and reliability across forging, CNC machining, and heat-treat systems through disciplined preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance practices.
  • Perform advanced diagnostics and root cause analysis for presses, ejectors, clutches, spindles, hydraulics, and linear systems, paired with structured root-cause analysis and permanent corrective-action implementation.
  • Proficient in alignment, balancing, installation, calibration, and accuracy-improvement activities for presses, CNC machines, broaches, heaters, conveyors, and heat-treat equipment.
  • Ensure strong adherence to LOTO, permits, risk assessments, and statutory compliance, along with the ability to guide and train maintenance personnel and work effectively with platforms like eMaint, Oracle ERP, and Kronos.
