About The Position

Requirements

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent; AND
  • Three (3) years of basic professional experience involving electrical, plumbing, heating, air-conditioning systems, or structural and architectural systems.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Utilities & Maintenance Superintendent II in monitoring employees on the jobsite, ensure safe work practices and that safety gear is utilized and maintained in good repair.
  • Work with supervisor to oversee the Grounds Maintenance Team and assist in work assignment for Utilities & Maintenance Superintendent II.
  • Ensure assignments are completed daily.
  • Picks up work orders and ensures assignments are completed correctly and work orders turned in promptly.
  • Ensure maintenance team safety by checking in daily with Range Control net before proceeding to the range areas; radios in when each range is entered and cleared of personnel.
  • Assist supervisor in planning work by utilizing the bi-weekly forecast report of range usage to plan maintenance and repair work while ranges are unoccupied.
  • Assist supervisor in verifying range maintenance crew’s time and attendance.
  • Serve as the liaison with Range Control and Environmental departments to prioritize work order lists.
  • Maintain ranges to include mowing, trimming, and edging around range facilities, targets and firing points.
  • Operate tractors, zero turn mowers, heavy equipment and utilize various power and hand tools.
  • Conducts daily checks and performs routine maintenance on equipment and power tools.
  • Maintain berms, firing points and fox holes to prevent and correct erosion.
  • Maintains range buildings to include electrical, plumbing, doors, and windows.
  • Supervises inmates when provided while performing incumbent’s duties.
  • Assists electrician installing circuits and panels, repairing/installing light fixtures, and replacing electrical motors.
  • Uses safety lockout procedures at all times.
  • Assists plumber on plumbing repairs or installing new fixtures.
  • Performs preventative maintenance (PM) on hot water heaters.
  • Performs general carpentry repairs and alternations to including repairing or installing windows and screens.
  • Performs PM on mechanical heat and air conditioning equipment.
  • Compiles with Hazardous Waste Management Rules and Regulations in the workplace.
  • Wastes are properly turned in.
  • Containers are handled and stored correctly.
