Senior Mainframe z/VM & Linux Systems Engineer
About The Position
We are seeking a Senior Mainframe z/VM & Linux Systems Engineer with extensive experience to join our team for a long-term contract. The role involves installing, configuring, administering, and maintaining IBM z/VM environments, as well as provisioning and managing Linux on IBM Z (s390x) virtual servers. This position requires a strong understanding of system upgrades, migrations, patching, capacity planning, performance monitoring, and optimization. You will also be responsible for supporting high-availability and disaster recovery solutions, configuring virtual networking, storage, and security, and troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues. Automation implementation, collaboration with cross-functional teams, documentation, and participation in on-call support are key aspects of this role.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience supporting IBM Mainframe environments.
- Strong hands-on experience with z/VM
- Strong hands-on experience with Linux on IBM Z (RHEL, SUSE, or Ubuntu for s390x)
- Strong hands-on experience with IBM Z hardware platforms
- Strong hands-on experience with Virtual machine provisioning and administration
- Experience with DIRMAINT
- Experience with RACF or equivalent security administration
- Experience with TCP/IP networking
- Experience with Shared File System (SFS)
- Experience with CMS
- Experience with CP commands and system management
- Strong Linux administration skills including user management, storage management, system tuning, shell scripting, and performance troubleshooting.
- Experience supporting virtualized enterprise workloads.

Responsibilities
