Senior Machinist

Boom SupersonicCentennial, CO

About The Position

At Boom Supersonic, we're building Superpower — a 42-megawatt industrial gas turbine that requires some of the most demanding precision machining work in the industry. Our first Superpower prototype is being assembled now and scheduled for first fire this year. The production facility you will work in is being built in parallel — so that when the prototype proves out, we're ready to build the first production units without losing a day. The Sr. Machinist is the person we give the hard jobs to. You'll own the setups that require judgment beyond the spec, work in materials that punish every process mistake, and troubleshoot the problems that don't have obvious causes. When the CNC Applications Engineer is developing a new process, you're the machinist they want running it. You'll also influence the machinists around you — not by telling them what to do, but by showing them what excellent work looks like and being the person they come to when they're stuck.

Requirements

  • Experience in precision CNC machining with at least 3 years running difficult aerospace alloys independently.
  • Multi-machine capability — not a single-machine specialist.
  • Demonstrated independent troubleshooting of complex, non-obvious machining problems.
  • GD&T working knowledge including MMC, true position, and profile of a surface.
  • Aerospace, defense, or comparable precision manufacturing background.

Responsibilities

  • Own the hardest setups in the cell — including when the spec has gaps that require judgment.
  • Real-time troubleshooting without the CNC Applications Engineer in the room.
  • In-process inspection on critical features.
  • Technical feedback to programmers that shapes process design.
  • Setting the technical standard for the cell through the quality of your own work.

Benefits

  • Flexible PTO policy
