About The Position

The Senior Machine Builder assembles and supports the build of complex automated equipment in accordance with mechanical drawings, quality standards, and project timelines. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and a collaborative approach when partnering with Machine Build Leads and project teams. The Machine Builder is responsible for documenting changes and issues, maintaining a clean and safe work environment, and ensuring equipment meets ISO and quality requirements. The position involves hands-on operation of a variety of machining and fabrication equipment, coordination of secondary manufacturing processes, and support of overall project execution related to cost, quality, delivery, and customer satisfaction. The role also requires physical stamina, safe material handling, travel up to 20%, and adherence to all safety, training, and compliance requirements, including certifications and background screenings.

Requirements

  • Basic computer skills.
  • Proficient in reading part and assembly drawings.
  • Proven mechanical aptitude with a focus on safety and quality.
  • Proven ability to accept direction and complete tasks as assigned while working as part of a team or individually.
  • Ability to maintain a steady pace while bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, and climbing onto and beneath machines.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. as required.
  • Ability to obtain a Hi-Lo (Forklift), Aerial Platform and Overhead Crane license, along with Lockout Tag Out training, while employed at JR.
  • Ability to provide own hand tools and toolbox suitable for the job (a list of those recommended will be provided).
  • Proficient with skills outlined in Modules 1, 2 & 3.
  • Travel at least 20% of the time may be required. This may include domestic and international travel depending on the project.
  • Candidates must successfully complete a 10-panel drug screen, physical examination, and background check.

Responsibilities

  • Assembly of equipment per mechanical drawings.
  • Ensure that changes and problems get documented and communicated.
  • Conduct assigned tasks with minimum direct supervision.
  • Execute ISO\Quality standards.
  • Communicates with the Machine Build Lead on open issues and progress during the build process.
  • Successful execution of assigned programs as they relate to cost, quality, timing, and customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned work area.
  • Coordinates secondary processes pick-up and delivery (material finish, heat treat, and deburring).
  • Assist Lead Builder in maintaining and coordinating project task lists, machine safety, machine quality, and driving project to completion within the timeline.
  • Effectively and safely operate: Mill, Lathe, Drill Press, Surface Grinder, Saws, Shears, Presses.
