About The Position

Evonik is seeking a Senior Logistics Manager for the Americas Region. This role involves leading regional logistics operations, including transportation, warehousing, and delivery of finished goods. The manager will provide functional leadership to logistics teams supporting six producing plants and third-party warehouses across the Americas. Key responsibilities include managing relationships with third-party logistics providers, owning regional warehousing and distribution costs, partnering with Logistics Procurement, managing dedicated railcar and bulk-truck fleets, ensuring regulatory compliance, leading continuous improvement initiatives, and managing logistics-related complaints and claims. The role also supports the regional Sales and Operations Planning process and related logistics activities in SAP.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in transportation logistics, distribution, warehousing, or supply-chain management, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience managing domestic and international logistics operations, third-party service providers, and distribution networks.
  • Strong knowledge of transportation management, logistics cost control, fleet management, trade compliance, and supply-chain optimization.
  • Experience managing railcars, bulk trucks, or other logistics equipment is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead geographically distributed teams and collaborate across functions.
  • Strong analytical, financial, negotiation, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Strong hands-on experience working in SAP for logistics and supply-chain processes is required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead regional logistics operations, including transportation, warehousing, and delivery of finished goods from manufacturing plants to customers.
  • Provide functional leadership to logistics teams supporting six producing plants and third-party warehouses across the Americas.
  • Manage relationships and performance of third-party logistics providers, including carriers, warehouses, freight forwarders, and transportation service providers.
  • Own regional warehousing and distribution costs, including budgeting, cost control, freight-spend analysis, and KPI reporting.
  • Partner with Logistics Procurement on transportation, warehousing, fleet, and logistics service agreements.
  • Manage dedicated railcar and bulk-truck fleets, including maintenance, utilization, fleet sizing, security, and equipment sourcing.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable transportation and trade regulations, internal policies, and environmental, safety, and quality requirements.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on logistics cost savings, network optimization, service reliability, and supply-chain risk reduction.
  • Manage logistics-related complaints, delivery performance, and loss or damage claims, implementing corrective actions where required.
  • Support the regional Sales and Operations Planning process and related logistics activities in SAP.
