About The Position

MOODK Law is a dynamic firm on the forefront of insurance defense litigation, founded in 1986. We offer a collaborative team environment with the training and systems of a large law firm and the personal interaction of a mid-size firm. We provide opportunities for attorneys to gain hands-on experience and exposure to different fields of litigation. Our firm represents clients in matters involving professional liability, labor and employment, medical malpractice, casualty, construction defect, and coverage. With offices across multiple states, we offer a regional approach to litigation needs. We are seeking experienced litigators for our Wilmington, Delaware office, with a strong preference for those with a background in General Liability or Labor and Employment Law. Knowledge of federal and state rules of civil procedure is essential. This is a unique opportunity for a motivated lawyer to counsel clients on a variety of legal issues that are diverse and challenging.

Requirements

  • 10 + years of litigation experience.
  • Must be barred in DE.
  • Experience drafting discovery, taking lead on depositions and arguing motions is required.
  • Excellent writing and organizational skills, and comfortable working in a fast paced and demanding environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Proficient in Lexis software
  • Knowledge of federal and state rules of civil procedures is essential.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in General Liability or/or Labor and Employment Law.

Responsibilities

  • Represent clients in all phases of litigation from initiation to expert discovery in matters involving professional liability or labor and employment.
  • Attend court appearances, hearings, depositions and case management conferences.
  • Conduct complex legal research and discovery investigations.
  • Draft discovery requests and responses, motions, case evaluation summaries, court orders, settlement agreements, affidavits, pleadings, motions, and legal memoranda.
  • Review discovery responses, depositions and prepare summaries and litigation update reports.
  • Negotiate with opposing counsel to settle claims.
  • Communicate closely with clients during the course of litigation to provide legal analysis, status reports and advice.
