About The Position

We are seeking a Senior Linux System Administrator with a strong background in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and AWS. This role involves installing, configuring, and maintaining Linux systems on AWS/Hybrid Cloud, deploying and managing AWS infrastructure, and ensuring system stability through monitoring, performance tuning, and troubleshooting. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with authentication systems, security hardening, automation tools, and scripting, and will be responsible for managing user access, executing patching and upgrades, and implementing system hardening best practices. This is a long-term contract position with a hybrid work preference, requiring on-call availability.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in Linux Administration (Red Hat Enterprise Linux - RHEL) on AWS
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, EBS, etc.)
  • 5+ years of experience with authentication systems (Active Directory, Kerberos, LDAP/LDAPS, SSSD)
  • 7+ years of experience in security hardening, patching, and vulnerability management
  • 3+ years of experience in automation tools (Ansible, Terraform, CloudFormation)
  • Strong experience in Bash/Python scripting (7+ years preferred)
  • Experience in system monitoring, performance tuning, and scaling environments
  • Knowledge of networking tools (iptables, HAProxy, Linux IPVS)
  • Experience working in AWS multi-account environments (Prod/Non-Prod)
  • Familiarity with backup, recovery, and disaster management processes
  • Willingness to be on-call (evenings/weekends)

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain Linux (RHEL) systems on AWS/Hybrid Cloud
  • Deploy and manage AWS infrastructure (EC2, S3, RDS, EBS, FSx, EFS)
  • Perform system monitoring, performance tuning, and troubleshooting
  • Manage user access, permissions, and security policies (RBAC, sudo)
  • Execute patching, upgrades, and package management
  • Implement system hardening and security best practices (STIG, CIS controls)
  • Handle backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes
  • Build and maintain automation scripts and infrastructure (Ansible, Terraform)
  • Troubleshoot issues including: Authentication failures (Kerberos, LDAP), Kernel/boot failures, Network and file system issues
  • Collaborate with development and operations teams for deployments
  • Maintain documentation (runbooks, architecture diagrams, SOPs)
  • Provide technical support and ensure system stability
