About The Position

JCS Solutions is seeking a Linux Administrator to support the DTRA I3TS Infrastructure Services (I3TS) team in maintaining and optimizing the Linux production environment. This role supports the full service lifecycle from design and development through deployment and production. The selected candidate will work within a virtualized infrastructure, applying ITIL best practices while collaborating closely with system administration teams and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 6–8 years of relevant experience, or master’s degree with 4–6 years of experience in IT operations supporting Linux servers and virtualization environments.
  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance.
  • Hands-on experience administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems.
  • Direct experience supporting systems using Red Hat Satellite.
  • Understanding of virtualized infrastructure, server backup and restoration procedures, and cyber hardening techniques.
  • Experience applying DoD STIGs and security compliance controls.
  • Basic experience with log file analysis and system monitoring.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in complex operational environments.
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II or III certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CASP+, CISSP).

Nice To Haves

  • Red Hat certifications such as RHCSA or RHCE.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining DISA STIG compliance using Red Hat Satellite and Ansible.
  • Experience integrating Linux systems with Active Directory and/or LDAP.
  • Familiarity with virtualization platforms including VMware and KVM.
  • Scripting experience using Bash and/or Python to support automation initiatives.
  • Experience supporting classified networks or cross-domain environments.
  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) – Preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provision Linux servers and environments.
  • Manage user access and permissions.
  • Perform full lifecycle management of Linux servers, including installation, configuration, patching, and upgrades in production and test environments.
  • Develop and maintain automation using Unix shell scripting and Ansible playbooks.
  • Perform security patching, upgrades, and hardening to remediate vulnerabilities and maintain compliance with DoD STIGs.
  • Monitor system performance and respond to alerts and operational issues.
  • Establish and maintain NTP services within the production environment.
  • Maintain Red Hat Satellite servers, software releases, and patch repositories.
  • Support emerging technologies including Kubernetes, OpenShift, containers, GitHub, and Ansible Tower.
  • Administer web servers and manage SSL/TLS certificates.
  • Support open-source technologies such as Apache Hadoop, Zookeeper, and Puppet.
  • Administer application servers including JBoss, Tomcat, Jetty, NGINX, and HTTPD.
  • Lead and support multiple projects within the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and customer stakeholders across multiple functional areas.
  • Create, maintain, and implement system documentation and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Provide support during business hours (M–F) and participate in on-call, extended-hours, or weekend support as required by mission needs.
