About The Position

Analyzes life insurance applications written by financial representatives in all sales regions and assigns the proper risk classification to them within general corporate underwriting guidelines. Reviews information concerning a proposed insureds' medical, occupational, financial, avocational and lifestyle to determine if additional information is needed to properly classify the risk; exercises judgment to approve, modify or decline new life insurance applications and reinstatement applications for life, disability and long term care insurance; assists financial representatives in determining proper application requirements and communicates on the status of each application and any additional requirements needed to place applications in the most favorable risk classification. Uses professionalism, tact and empathy when dealing with financial representatives, clients, medical personnel and department support when discussing a risk or facilitating the risk selection, issue and administrative process or obtaining underwriting information. Respects and maintains the privacy of a clients' personal information disclosed in the risk appraisal process. Consults with leadership, medical directors, reinsurers, other underwriters, and corporate personnel as required. May develop new and competitive underwriting guidelines.

Requirements

  • Typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience or a combination of related experience, education and training.
