About The Position
Broadcom’s Mainframe Software Division (MSD) is looking for an experienced technical writer with a technical software background and a passion for building high quality applications using agile practices to join our development team. Mainframe systems are at the heart of the digital economy, with 80% of the world’s structured corporate data residing or originating on mainframes, and 55% of all enterprise applications hitting the mainframe to complete transactions. Our industry-leading products are critical to many Fortune 1000 companies. We are adding a technical writer to our team in the Plano, TX office to document mainframe software. Requirements
- Strong project management skills
- Bachelors and 8+ years of related experience
- Masters degree and 6+ years of related experience
- PhD and 3+ years of related experience

Responsibilities
- Creates, develops, plans, writes and edits operational, instructional, maintenance or test procedures for paper, multimedia or web-based publication.
- Conducts interviews with various users and technical staff to gather data for documentation.
- Researches and translates technical information into manuals and/or web-based documents for nontechnical and technical users.
- May document engineering processes and specifications.
- Recommends formats responsive to technical and customer requirements.
- Produces products that conform to the company documentation and quality assurance standards.
- Will champion significant projects, programs and business initiatives using demonstrated creativity and ingenuity
- Leads projects and product teams on documentation initiatives
- Influences or impacts others' priorities, decisions or activities
- Escalation point for complex issues
- Coaches and mentors other junior team members
- Works closely with direct supervisor and product teams to propose, plan, and initiate documentation needs.
- Reports to a documentation supervisor along with other tech writing colleagues
- Adheres to the goals of both the technical writing team and the agile development team
- Supports documented best practices and procedures
- Consults with management on long-range goals
- Independently completes documentation work within management-set priorities
