Infinite GlobalNew York, NY

About The Position

Infinite Global is an international communications firm specializing in PR, Content & Campaigns, and Crisis & Litigation. Our clients are ambitious, complex organizations that need to engage with sophisticated audiences. We provide the experience, skills and insight to drive brands forward and, in special situations, to deploy strategies to defend clients from reputational risk. We serve knowledge-intensive firms, with a focus on the legal, financial, and professional services sectors. Some of the world’s largest, most profitable and most specialized law firms and financial services firms look to us for a nuanced understanding of their businesses, a clear sense of the kinds of stories that make news, and tested knowledge of when and how to engage the media. Our unwavering client focus sets us apart and our approach and success earns accolades from our clients and peers. We are consistently named among PR News’ “Agency Elite" and "Top Places to Work in PR” and have been for recognized as the “Best PR Firm” by the National Law Journal seven times. A sophisticated writer and seasoned legal storyteller to produce the high-caliber written content that builds and protects the reputations of Infinite’s law firm and professional services clients. This is a deliberately hybrid role. You are both a specialist writer and a client-facing public relations practitioner, assigned to accounts where you lead the most demanding written work while also contributing to media relations and communications strategy. Drawing on years spent covering the legal industry as a journalist or trade writer, or writing inside an AmLaw firm, you translate complex legal matters into clear, compelling prose calibrated precisely to sophisticated audiences. You will take primary responsibility for our most demanding written work, including ghostwritten thought leadership and award nominations, and bring the editorial judgment that elevates every piece. When content demand is lighter, you will flex into broader account support alongside your teams. Ideal candidates will bring a minimum of 10 years of legal writing and communications experience, deep substantive knowledge of corporate legal practice and the business of law, and the client-facing polish to work directly with partners and chief marketing officers.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of 10 years of legal writing and communications experience, either as a journalist covering the legal industry at a recognized publication such as Law360, American Lawyer, National Law Journal or Bloomberg Law, or in a writing role within the marketing and communications function of an AmLaw 100 or 200 law firm.
  • Deep substantive knowledge of corporate legal practice and the business of law, with strong command of transactional and/or litigation practice areas.
  • Exceptional writing and storytelling ability, with a portfolio that demonstrates rendering complex legal matters in clear, compelling, audience-appropriate prose.
  • Strong editorial judgment; you know what is salient, what to cut and how to position a matter for maximum impact within a given format.
  • Familiarity with the corporate legal awards and rankings landscape and a clear sense of what distinguishes a strong submission from a mediocre one.
  • Client-facing confidence and polish; comfortable working directly with partners, chief marketing officers and communications directors, and attuned to the demands of white-glove service.
  • Strategic PR fluency; ability to contribute communications counsel and strategy to accounts as well as hands-on media relations and pitching, with strong knowledge of the news media and, ideally, established relationships across the legal and business press.
  • Self-directed and reliable; able to manage written assignments from start to finish with strong attention to detail and time management.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to corporate law firm marketing or legal public relations is a strong plus.
  • Experience in a marketing, communications or writing role within an AmLaw 200, and ideally AmLaw 100, firm is especially valued.

  • Translate complex legal matters, across corporate and transactional practices such as capital markets, private equity, tax, bankruptcy and project finance, into clear, compelling prose calibrated to sophisticated audiences.
  • Apply strong editorial judgment to position each matter for maximum impact: knowing what is salient, what to cut and how to work within the constraints of a submission or publication format.
  • Craft winning submissions for the major legal awards, including AmLaw, Law360, Bloomberg and Financial Times, and consult on strategy for legal directory submissions.
  • Own written assignments from concept through completion, managing timelines, quality and detail with limited oversight.
  • Maintain current, expert knowledge of the legal industry, the business of law and the corporate legal awards and rankings landscape.
  • Serve as a senior communications counsel on assigned accounts, helping shape strategy, messaging and narrative, and advising partners and marketing leaders on media strategy.
  • Lead hands-on media relations and pitching when content demand allows, flexing into broader account support as needed.
  • Work directly and confidently with law firm partners, chief marketing officers and communications leaders, delivering white-glove service throughout.
  • Partner with account teams to ensure written work aligns with each client’s broader public relations and business goals.
  • Extend sophisticated writing support to DLPR, An Infinite Company, and its clients when needs arise.
  • Help raise the writing and legal fluency of the wider team, coaching more junior colleagues on sharp legal writing and sharing knowledge of the legal profession and the business of law.
  • Participate in initiatives that further Infinite’s vision and values among both internal and external audiences.
  • Demonstrate behaviors consistent with Infinite’s values (integrity, agility, compassion, and courage).
