In-House Senior Legal Counsel (On-Site, Long Island)
About The Position
Air Charter Service (ACS) is a world-leading aircraft charter specialist seeking an experienced Senior Legal Advisor to support its continued growth across the Americas. This is a high-visibility, commercially focused role working directly with the Regional VP for the Americas and the senior management team, as well as the central legal team in the UK. The role will advise on a wide range of commercial, contractual, and regulatory matters, draft and negotiate commercial agreements, provide strategic legal insight to support new business opportunities, ensure compliance with aviation regulations and other legal frameworks, manage legal risk, and liaise with external counsel. The position also contributes to internal policy development, training, and best-practice implementation.
Requirements
- Contract drafting and negotiation experience
- Ability to work with senior stakeholders to balance commerciality with legal risk
- Strong written, verbal and organizational skills
- Comfortable with working under pressure and managing multiple priorities
- A creative, problem-solving mindset, with demonstrated ability to turn ideas into products or actions
- Previous exposure to the sales bids process
- Previous experience with using a contract management system or other legal software.
- Minimum of 5 years of legal experience, with prior in-house legal role/experience required.
- Admitted to the New York State Bar (or in another state); equivalent legal experience considered
Nice To Haves
- Previous aviation industry experience is a plus
Responsibilities
- Advise the Regional VP and senior leadership on a wide range of commercial, contractual, and regulatory matters affecting the Americas region.
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, including charter contracts, vendor agreements, and partnership arrangements.
- Provide strategic legal insight to support new business opportunities, commercial initiatives, and regional expansion.
- Ensure compliance with aviation regulations, consumer protection laws, data privacy requirements, and other relevant legal frameworks.
- Manage legal risk across the region and develop practical, business-friendly solutions to support operational decision-making.
- Liaise with external counsel when specialist advice is required.
- Contribute to internal policy development, training, and best-practice implementation.
