About The Position

ZipStaff is seeking a Senior LeanIX Engineer to lead a greenfield, ground-up SAP LeanIX implementation for a major transportation organization in the Washington, DC area. Working closely with Enterprise Architecture leadership, the engineer will serve as the primary platform authority for meta-model configuration, data modeling, cross-system integrations, and long-term governance. The role bridges technical engineering and strategic consulting by translating Enterprise Architecture use cases—including application rationalization, technology obsolescence, and business capability mapping—into an agile, incrementally delivered platform roadmap. The position is on-site in Washington, DC and is a W2 contract through ZipStaff; C2C and 1099 arrangements are not accepted.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of total experience in Enterprise Architecture, IT Asset/Portfolio Management, or Platform Engineering.
  • At least 3 years of dedicated, hands-on SAP LeanIX experience.
  • Demonstrated experience standing up LeanIX from the ground up in a complex enterprise environment.
  • Strong technical background with REST/GraphQL APIs, JSON data structures, and Python or JavaScript scripting for custom automation.
  • Experience integrating LeanIX with ServiceNow CMDB and primary enterprise identity/HR systems.
  • Practical understanding of Enterprise Architecture frameworks and methodologies, including TOGAF, Business Capability Modeling, and Application Rationalization.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to facilitate decision-making with senior IT and business leaders.
  • Ability to work on-site in Washington, DC.

Nice To Haves

  • Active LeanIX Certification at the Associate or Professional level.
  • Hands-on experience executing application rationalization or technology obsolescence programs that delivered quantified cost savings or risk reduction.
  • Experience in a regulated or public-sector environment in the Washington, DC region.
  • Background supporting transportation or mission-critical enterprise environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end greenfield implementation of SAP LeanIX, including configuring workspaces, meta-models, custom fact sheets, tagging taxonomies, and ownership frameworks.
  • Design and execute enterprise integrations between LeanIX and systems of record, including ServiceNow CMDB, HR and identity platforms, and cloud providers, using REST/GraphQL APIs, Python or JavaScript, and the LeanIX Integration Hub.
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture leaders to develop and maintain a phased development roadmap, delivering production-ready platform capabilities incrementally.
  • Establish data governance processes, including automated data quality scoring, survey and attestation cycles, change control, and stewardship models.
  • Configure custom reports, executive dashboards, and architectural diagrams to support application rationalization, including TIME/6R analysis, and technology risk mitigation.
  • Drive platform enablement and adoption across IT and business units through documentation, runbooks, training sessions, and ongoing stakeholder engagement.
