About The Position

Google's projects, like our users, span the globe and require managers to keep the big picture in focus while being able to dive into the unique engineering challenges we face daily. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers. Using your extensive technical and leadership expertise, you manage various Engineering-specific programs and teams. The Core ML PMO is responsible for driving standard, repeatable software stacks, reducing technical fragmentation, and accelerating the transition from research to production. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience in program management.
  • 7 years of experience in leadership roles with/without direct reports.

Nice To Haves

  • 10 years of experience managing cross-functional/team projects.
  • Proven experience managing highly complex, high-stakes, and cross-functional technical programs in the AI/ML space.
  • Demonstrate technical judgment and architectural understanding.

Responsibilities

  • Advocate programs through the Core ML Product Lifecycle (Concept, Planning, Development, Pilot, and GA).
  • Partner closely with Engineering Leads, PMs, and cross-Product Area customers (e.g., Cloud, Search, Ads, YouTube) to align roadmaps, capture dependencies, and unblock execution bottlenecks.
  • Apply technical understanding to evaluate architectural trade-offs, drive design discussions, and manage complex cross-group dependencies.
  • Define and monitor program health metrics, report on OKR progress to leadership, and streamline communication across virtual and dedicated engineering structures.
