About The Position

As a Lead Software Engineer within JPMorganChase’s Global Technology team, you will work as part of an agile team to design and deliver secure, stable, scalable technology products. Depending on the team, work may span banking and trading systems, payment platforms, private and public cloud integration, or blockchain solutions. This role focuses on Java or Python software engineering, blockchain development—including public chains such as Ethereum—and AWS cloud services. It also leads the responsible adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes, with consistent validation through secure coding, peer review, and automated testing.

Requirements

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and at least 5 years of applied coding experience in Java or Python.
• Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
• Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment using one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages.
• Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle.
• Understanding of agile methodologies and practices such as CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
• Knowledge of software applications and technical processes in a technical discipline, such as cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or mobile.
• Experience with blockchain technologies, including public chains such as Ethereum.
• Experience with AWS cloud services.
• Demonstrated experience leading effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools, with the ability to set team expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and resiliency and security expectations; experience coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable, resilient systems using Java or Python, contributing to iterative product improvements.
• Execute software solutions, including design, development, and technical troubleshooting.
• Create secure, high-quality production code and maintain algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems.
• Produce or contribute to application architecture and design artifacts, ensuring software code meets design constraints.
• Analyze and visualize large, diverse data sets to support continuous improvement of software applications and systems.
• Identify hidden problems and patterns in data and use insights to improve coding hygiene and system architecture.
• Contribute to software engineering communities of practice and events exploring emerging technologies.
• Design and implement blockchain-based solutions, including smart contracts and decentralized applications on public chains such as Ethereum.
• Use AWS cloud services to architect, deploy, and manage scalable applications.
• Drive team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices, including code review and refactoring, test acceleration, and incident or root-cause analysis support.
• Establish validation standards for AI-assisted work, including secure coding, peer review, and automated testing, and promote reuse of effective team practices.
• Apply Software Development Life Cycle toolchain capabilities, including authorized AI-assisted development and automation, to improve the value of automation.
