Senior Lead Software Engineer - Full Stack

JPMorgan Chase & Co.•Jersey City, NJ
•$175,750 - $260,000

About The Position

As a Senior Lead Software Engineer in JPMorganChase Corporate Technology, within the Treasury and Chief Investment Office (TCIO) Technology team, you will provide technical leadership for UI and full-stack engineering on ALMonD (Asset Liability Management on Demand), the firm’s platform for simulating how interest-rate scenarios affect net interest income, balance sheets, and other risk metrics. You will set front-end and full-stack architecture, build Python and Java services on AWS that connect users to the simulation engine, and create clear workflows and visualizations for quantitative results. This is a hands-on leadership role: you will regularly contribute production code, establish engineering quality standards, and promote responsible use of modern AI tools to improve delivery while maintaining reliability, observability, and security. You will partner with Treasury, CIO, Risk, Product, and Quantitative teams to shape requirements and deliver platform capabilities iteratively. The role includes technical direction across the web platform, development of end-to-end features and data-heavy interfaces, production ownership, observability and incident response, and mentoring engineers through design reviews, pairing, and practical guidance. It influences engineering direction without formal people management.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and at least 5 years of applied experience.
  • Advanced Python proficiency, including production services and APIs, type hints, packaging, testing, and performance tuning.
  • Working experience with Java services and the ability to contribute to and review Java code alongside Python.
  • Advanced React and TypeScript/JavaScript proficiency, including modern state management, component-based architecture, and front-end performance optimization.
  • Strong hands-on system design and full-stack application development skills, with demonstrated production ownership across delivery, stability, incident response, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience building data-heavy user interfaces, including large interactive grids, charts, and dashboards.
  • Experience building authenticated REST and streaming/WebSocket API integrations, including SSO, pagination, retry/backoff, and robust error handling.
  • Hands-on experience building and deploying applications on AWS, plus modern CI/CD practices including automated testing, linting, type checking, and disciplined git/PR workflows.
  • Experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development tools in day-to-day engineering and setting expectations for responsible use and output validation.
  • Strong understanding of web security, WCAG accessibility, and front-end performance best practices.
  • Technical leadership experience driving architecture decisions, mentoring engineers, and influencing across teams without direct authority.

Nice To Haves

  • Financial-services experience, especially in Treasury, asset liability management (ALM), interest-rate risk, fixed income, or balance-sheet analytics.
  • Experience building interfaces for simulation, modeling, or analytics platforms involving long-running computations.
  • Hands-on experience building generative AI/LLM product features, such as retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), tool/function calling, or agent workflows.
  • Familiarity with emerging AI standards and patterns such as MCP (Model Context Protocol) and agent skills.
  • Familiarity with micro-frontend architectures, design systems, or shared UI component libraries.
  • Exposure to distributed computing or cloud data platforms on AWS.
  • Familiarity with regulated environments that have strong audit, access-control, and change-management requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Set technical direction and architecture for the ALMonD web platform across the front end, service layer, and simulation-engine integration, emphasizing scalability, performance, and maintainability.
  • Build and maintain full-stack features, from React/TypeScript interfaces through Python services and APIs, with Java services as needed, deployed on AWS.
  • Design workflows for configuring, running, and comparing interest-rate simulations and scenarios with Treasury, CIO, and risk stakeholders.
  • Develop high-performance visualizations, grids, and dashboards for large simulation result sets, including NII and EVE sensitivities, scenario comparisons, and time series.
  • Lead adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering tools and set standards for validating their outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
  • Prototype product and engineering uses for AI, such as natural-language scenario setup, explanations of simulation results, and automation of repetitive development and operational tasks.
  • Set and enforce standards for accessibility, performance, security-by-design, and automated unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
  • Write secure, high-quality production code and comprehensive tests; participate in code reviews as both author and reviewer.
  • Build observability into front-end and back-end services using logs, metrics, tracing, and real-user monitoring; troubleshoot production issues, participate in incident response as needed, and automate fixes for recurring problems.
  • Mentor and support the team through design reviews, pairing, and hands-on guidance, influencing engineering direction without formal people management.
  • Collaborate with Product, Treasury, CIO, Risk, and Quantitative teams to refine requirements, break down work, and deliver in Agile increments.

Benefits

  • Competitive total rewards package, including base salary determined by role, experience, skill set, and location.
  • Eligible roles may receive commission-based pay and/or discretionary incentive compensation in cash and/or forfeitable equity.
  • Comprehensive health care coverage.
  • On-site health and wellness centers.
  • Retirement savings plan.
  • Backup childcare.
  • Tuition reimbursement.
  • Mental health support.
  • Financial coaching.
