Lead Software Engineer - Full Stack
About The Position
As a Lead Software Engineer in JPMorgan Chase’s Consumer & Community Banking Technology Team, you will contribute to an agile team building and enhancing secure, stable, scalable technology products. You will deliver critical technology solutions across technical areas in support of business objectives, including system design, application development, testing, and operational stability. The role includes developing and maintaining production code, reviewing and debugging code, improving software delivery and operations through enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering tools, and establishing standards for validating AI outputs. You will also identify opportunities to automate recurring remediation and lead evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architecture and technical capabilities.
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and at least 5 years of applied experience.
- Hands-on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
- Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages and technologies, including Java, Java Spring, SQL and NoSQL databases, and JavaScript with React.js or Angular.
- Experience with microservice architecture, REST, contract-first development, and versioning.
- Experience leading effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools for activities such as coding, code review, test acceleration, or troubleshooting, and setting expectations for validating outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
- Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and resiliency and security expectations; experience coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption.
- Proficiency across all aspects of the software development life cycle.
- Cloud experience with AWS, including infrastructure as code, autoscaling, caching, and managed databases.
- Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment using modern programming and database-querying languages.
- Experience handling production support on a rotating basis.
- Advanced understanding of agile methodologies and CI/CD, application resiliency, and security practices such as circuit breakers, bulkheads, metrics, tracing, alerting, and chaos exercises.

Responsibilities
- Execute creative software solutions through design, development, and technical troubleshooting, including approaches to complex or unconventional problems.
- Develop secure, high-quality production code and review and debug code written by others.
- Drive team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes.
- Establish consistent validation standards for AI-assisted work, including secure coding, peer review, and automated testing, and promote reuse of effective patterns.
- Apply software development lifecycle tools, including approved AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value of automation.
- Identify opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve application and system operational stability.
- Lead evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability within existing systems and information architecture.
- Handle production support on a rotating (ROTA) basis.
