About The Position

This full-time position within Wake Forest University Health Sciences - Gerontology is responsible for the comprehensive administration of grants and contracts. The role involves preparing and editing proposals, developing budgets, and ensuring compliance with agency guidelines. The Senior Lead will manage grants staff, provide technical advice to investigators on administrative and financial aspects of proposals and awards, and serve as a liaison with funding agencies and contract representatives. Additionally, the position involves developing resources for investigators, identifying funding opportunities, maintaining databases, managing progress reports, overseeing grant account transactions, and tracking research time and effort. The role also includes performing other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field with five years' experience in grants and contracts coordination or management; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, edit, and proofread final proposals.
  • Provide expertise in developing budgets and preparing forms for funding agencies.
  • Obtain information from the Office of Research and translate it into material appropriate for submission according to agency guidelines.
  • Manage grants staff to ensure proposals and budgets are accurate.
  • Provide technical advice regarding administrative and financial aspects of proposals, budget, budget justification, subcontracting, indirect cost rates, fringe rates, etc., to investigators.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of guidelines of NIH, DOD, and numerous other agencies.
  • Provide direction to investigators, collaborators, subcontractors, and others regarding proposal requirements.
  • Create, coordinate, and review complex subcontracts.
  • Serve as liaison with contract representatives to ensure all guidelines are met.
  • Coordinate Conflict of Interest correspondence.
  • Work with the Office of Research and others as necessary to complete accurate COI information and ensure all guidelines and policies are followed.
  • Develop resources to assist multiple investigators in the preparation and submission of complex proposals and administration of awards.
  • Confer with the Office of Sponsored Programs and research available databases such as Community of Science to identify appropriate funding agencies for projects.
  • Identify potential sponsors and programs for funding.
  • Communicate funding opportunity information to faculty.
  • Contact appropriate personnel for coordinating funding.
  • Maintain a database of divisional bio sketches, departmental, divisional, center, and institutional resource pages and environment and training information to assist in the preparation of training grants, contracts, program projects, and other multi-departmental initiatives.
  • Manage the preparation of progress reports.
  • Function as liaison with study sponsors and coordinate updates of grant information.
  • Prepare reports for administration regarding the scientific and financial growth of research activities and funding.
  • Oversee transactions for grant accounts.
  • Track research time and effort of study personnel.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to work described herein.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by leadership.
