About The Position

The Senior / Lead Facilities Project Manager is responsible for leading complex capital projects across Copeland's global manufacturing, laboratory, office, and distribution facilities. Projects include greenfield construction, facility expansions, manufacturing line installations, infrastructure improvements, utility upgrades, sustainability initiatives, and strategic capacity expansions. This position serves as the project leader from concept through commissioning while partnering with manufacturing, operations, maintenance, EHS, procurement, finance, IT, and external engineering and construction partners to safely deliver projects on schedule, within budget, and with minimal disruption to operations. Depending on qualifications and experience, this position may be filled at either the Senior Facilities Project Manager or Lead Facilities Project Manager level.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience managing industrial facilities capital projects within manufacturing or industrial environments.
  • Demonstrated experience leading multiple complex capital projects simultaneously.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial building systems including electrical, mechanical, structural, plumbing, fire protection, and process utilities.
  • Experience managing architects, engineering firms, contractors, and equipment suppliers.
  • Experience developing capital budgets, schedules, and project financial forecasts.
  • Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% based on project workload.

  • Experience with Microsoft Project or equivalent project scheduling software.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all phases of complex capital projects including planning, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and project closeout.
  • Develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, procurement strategies, and execution plans.
  • Prepare Capital Authorization Requests (ARs), business cases, and conceptual cost estimates.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing, engineering, maintenance, EHS, finance, procurement, and operations to ensure successful project execution.
  • Manage architects, engineers, construction managers, contractors, equipment suppliers, and consultants.
  • Monitor project cost, schedule, quality, safety, and scope while proactively mitigating project risks.
  • Minimize manufacturing disruption through strategic planning and execution.
  • Lead projects involving industrial building systems including electrical distribution, HVAC, compressed air, chilled water, steam, natural gas, domestic water, fire protection, process utilities, structural systems, and building automation.
  • Support manufacturing equipment installations and facility modifications.
  • Evaluate existing infrastructure capacity and identify improvements required to support future manufacturing growth.
  • Support long-range facility master planning and infrastructure planning.
  • Lead projects that reduce Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions across global facilities.
  • Support enterprise energy management initiatives through utility metering, building automation, and energy efficiency improvements.
  • Partner with the Enterprise Sustainability team to develop standardized engineering practices supporting corporate sustainability objectives.
  • Promote standardization of facility design, finishes, utility systems, and construction methods across the global manufacturing footprint.
  • Develop and manage capital project budgets from concept through completion.
  • Track project expenditures, forecasts, cash flow, and cost variances.
  • Identify cost savings while maintaining project scope, quality, and schedule.
  • Support contractor selection, contract negotiations, change order management, and procurement activities.
  • Develop strong working relationships with engineering firms, contractors, and equipment suppliers.
  • Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure projects comply with applicable building codes, OSHA requirements, environmental regulations, and Copeland engineering standards.
  • Lead design reviews, constructability reviews, and safety reviews throughout project development.
  • Ensure successful commissioning and turnover of completed projects.
  • Lead cross-functional project teams without direct reporting authority.
  • Build strong relationships across manufacturing, operations, engineering, maintenance, procurement, IT, finance, and executive leadership.
  • Mentor Associate and Project Managers through technical guidance and project leadership.
  • Promote best practices in project management, engineering standards, and capital project execution.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and recommendations to senior leadership.
