About The Position

The Senior Lead Engineer, Manufacturing Process designs, develops, deploys, and optimizes manufacturing processes to achieve quality, cost, and delivery goals for Celestica and its customers. The role is focused on back-end electro-mechanical assembly, system integration, and box-build environments, including final assembly of power inverter modules, power converters, and high-voltage enclosures. The engineer leads manufacturing process development for new customer products, from prototype validation through volume production and First Article Inspection. This includes developing process flows, specifying tooling, creating standard operating procedures, establishing process controls and data collection strategies, and using Design of Experiments to assess process capability. The position applies DFM/DFA methods and lean practices to improve cost, quality, reliability, yield, cycle time, and ergonomics. The role also maintains process documentation and production systems, including PFMEAs, Control Plans, engineering changes, bills of materials, work instructions, and manufacturing execution system routing. It serves as a technical liaison with customers and internal teams on mechanical fitment, routing, and final assembly topics, and communicates significant technical and business issues to management. Duties are performed in a normal office environment and may require occasional travel.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of Process Engineering experience in Electronics Manufacturing Services, focused on back-end electro-mechanical assembly, system integration, and box-build environments.
  • Proven experience designing, developing, and implementing final assembly processes for power inverter modules, power converters, and high-voltage enclosures.
  • Expertise in wire harness routing, cable management, connector mating, and precision torque control or automated fastening systems.
  • Proficiency developing and maintaining PFMEAs and production Control Plans for manual and semi-automated assembly lines.
  • Bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to communicate technical and business issues to management, customers, and internal teams.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and implement customers’ technical roadmaps and related process development projects.
  • Lead development and release of the complete manufacturing process for new customer products.
  • Communicate customers’ technical requirements and provide feedback to team members and management.
  • Develop and implement costed, optimized feedback using DFX tools and processes to reduce manufacturing cost and improve product quality and reliability.
  • Plan and lead Design of Experiments to assess process application capability.
  • Establish process controls and data collection strategies; evaluate complex data to report yield and reliability and diagnose root causes of product-quality failures.
  • Communicate critical technical and business issues to management accurately and promptly.
  • Develop process flows, specify tooling, and create SOPs for final electro-mechanical assembly.
  • Provide DFA and DFM feedback to product design teams to support efficient final-product assembly.
  • Support NPI from prototype validation through volume production and First Article Inspection.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain PFMEAs and production Control Plans for manual and semi-automated assembly lines.
  • Coordinate and execute engineering changes, updating mechanical technical documentation, BOMs, and operator work instructions.
  • Set up, configure, and manage product routing in shop-floor software or MES for final assembly operations.
  • Lead lean initiatives such as Kaizen and 5S, cell design, line balancing, and continuous improvement to improve yield, reduce cycle time, and address ergonomic risks.
  • Serve as a technical liaison with customers and internal teams to resolve mechanical fitment, routing, and final assembly engineering topics.
