Senior Lead Engineer, Manufacturing Process

Celestica International LP•Plano, TX

About The Position

The Senior Lead Engineer, Manufacturing Process designs, develops, deploys, and optimizes manufacturing processes to achieve quality, cost, and delivery goals for Celestica and its customers' products. The role is responsible for implementing customer technical roadmaps, leading process development and release for new products, and providing feedback on technical requirements. It develops costed, optimized recommendations using Design for Manufacturability tools and processes to reduce cost and improve product quality and reliability. The position leads process capability assessments using Design of Experiments, establishes process controls and data collection strategies, and analyzes complex data to report yield and reliability and diagnose product-quality root causes. It also coordinates process and documentation changes, supports new product introduction from prototype validation through volume production and First Article Inspection, and acts as a technical liaison with customers and internal teams on final assembly engineering topics. Duties are performed in a normal office environment; occasional travel may be required.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of Process Engineering experience in EMS, specifically in back-end electro-mechanical assembly, system integration, and box-build environments.
  • Proven experience designing, developing, and implementing final assembly processes for power inverter modules, power converters, and high-voltage enclosures.
  • Expertise in wire harness routing, cable management, connector mating, precision torque control, and automated fastening systems.
  • Experience developing process flows, specifying tooling, and creating SOPs for final electro-mechanical assembly.
  • Experience developing, implementing, and maintaining PFMEAs and production Control Plans for manual and semi-automated assembly lines.
  • Experience coordinating and executing ECOs/ECNs and updating technical documentation, BOMs, and operator work instructions.
  • Experience setting up and managing product routing in shop-floor software or MES.
  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Typical experience of 4 to 6 years in a similar role or industry.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and implement customers' technical roadmaps and related process development projects.
  • Lead and implement development and release of the full manufacturing process for new customer products.
  • Understand customer technical requirements and provide feedback to team members and management.
  • Develop and implement costed, optimized feedback using DFX tools and processes to reduce manufacturing cost and improve product quality and reliability.
  • Develop, plan, and lead assessments of process-application capability using Design of Experiments.
  • Devise process controls and data-collection strategies; evaluate complex data to report yield and reliability and diagnose root causes of product-quality failures.
  • Communicate critical technical and business issues accurately and promptly to management.
  • Develop process flows, specify tooling, and create SOPs for final electro-mechanical assembly.
  • Lead mechanical design assessments and provide actionable DFA and DFM feedback to product design teams.
  • Drive back-end assemblies through NPI, from prototype validation through volume production and FAI.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain PFMEAs and production Control Plans for manual and semi-automated assembly lines.
  • Coordinate and execute ECOs/ECNs, updating mechanical technical documentation, BOMs, and operator work instructions.
  • Set up, configure, and manage product routing in shop-floor software and MES for final assembly operations.
  • Drive lean manufacturing initiatives, cell design, line balancing, and continuous improvement to maximize yield, reduce cycle time, and eliminate ergonomic risks.
  • Serve as a primary technical liaison with customers and internal teams to resolve mechanical fitment, routing, and final assembly engineering topics.
