As a Starbucks Sr/lead Decision scientist on the data democratization team, you will be part of the team that powers data-driven decision-making across our data democratization team at coffeehouse operations, Partners and Supply Chain domain. You will help shape how insights are translated into action—enabling teams to optimize store performance, improve partner and customer experience, and scale solutions across the enterprise.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in analytics, decision science, roles.
  • BA/BS in business or quantitative discipline (Stats, Math, Comp Sci, Engineering); Masters preferred.
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills with an executive presence.
  • Proven ability to drive projects from concept to impact in ambiguous environments.
  • Technical proficiency in Python, SQL, and modern BI tools; familiarity with AI/ML concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to define problem statements, success metrics, and decision frameworks
  • Translate ambiguous business problems into structured analytical frameworks and actionable insights
  • Guide stakeholders through trade-offs, risks, and implications of data-driven recommendations
  • Communicate insights clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, influencing decisions at multiple levels
  • Analyze data to deliver actionable insights with strong hands-on experience with modern analytics and BI tools, including Alteryx, Power BI, Tableau, and MicroStrategy
  • Ability to design, build, and scale interactive dashboards and reporting solutions that drive decision-making
  • data preparation, transformation, and workflow automation (e.g., Python, R, SQL) to enable efficient analytics
  • Establish reporting cadence, monitor KPIs, and share updates with stakeholders.
  • Stay ahead of emerging AI/BI trends to accelerate data modernization efforts (Generative AI, Augmented Analytics).
  • Collaborate with architects and engineers to enable AI-driven insights and modern BI capabilities (Cloud Platforms: Azure, APIs).
