About The Position
ConocoPhillips is seeking a seasoned Land Negotiator to join their dynamic Permian Basin team. This is a high-impact role where expertise will shape strategic land decisions and directly influence the development of assets across the Permian Basin. As a key member of a multidisciplinary team, the role involves collaboration with engineering, geology, legal, regulatory, and surface land professionals to unlock value and drive responsible growth. This position offers the opportunity to lead complex negotiations, manage high-value contracts, and represent ConocoPhillips in interactions with landowners, government agencies, and industry partners. Requirements
- Legally authorized to work full-time in the United States.
- Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent.
- 3 or more years of land negotiation experience in the oil and gas industry.
- 1 or more years of in-house land negotiation experience.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, Word).

- Experience with land management software (e.g., Quorum, ArcGIS, Enverus).
- Background in project planning, acquisition economics, and commercial deal structures.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to mentor and share knowledge.

- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently on complex land matters while proactively identifying risks and opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Lead negotiations for strategic acquisitions, trades, and divestitures of undeveloped and developed leasehold.
- Draft, review, and manage complex oil and gas agreements to ensure accuracy and compliance with legal, ethical, and corporate standards.
- Collaborate with legal counsel and land brokers to clear title for drilling and division order purposes.
- Maintain and monitor oil and gas contracts to ensure alignment with corporate policies and industry regulations.
- Prepare and submit filings to state and federal agencies, including Communitization Agreements, Plans of Development, and location exceptions.
- Represent ConocoPhillips in external engagements with operators, co-owners, landowners, and government entities.
- Provide strategic land recommendations to leadership, anticipating challenges and offering proactive solutions.
