Our full-service genetics laboratory offers you the ability to specialize in the latest techniques such as FISH and microarray testing, while utilizing state-of-the-art equipment -- including automated metaphase finding and karyotyping systems. In this versatile facility, you'll perform tasks in everything from constitutional cytogenetics, hematologic malignancy testing, and solid tumor cytogenetics. The Senior Laboratory Technologist performs complex clinical laboratory testing for Cytogenetics and FISH analysis while maintaining the highest standards of quality and patient care. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to support team members through troubleshooting and problem-solving initiatives.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology (or equivalent experience)
  • New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist License

Nice To Haves

  • 6+ years of experience
  • ASCP certification
  • Experience with microarray analysis

Responsibilities

  • Perform all aspects of conventional cytogenetic and FISH wet lab procedures, including specimen processing, cell culture, harvesting, slide preparation.
  • Perform karyotyping analysis on hematological specimens.
  • Assist with laboratory maintenance, reagent preparation, inventory management, and documentation.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and participate in process improvement initiatives.
  • Communicate results effectively to supervisors, pathologists, or clinical laboratory directors as required.
