  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience.
  • Typically, more than five years of relevant professional or technical engineering experience, including at least three years in electronics design or manufacturing.
  • Thorough knowledge of schematics, datasheets, and component-level troubleshooting of printed circuit assemblies.
  • Thorough knowledge of troubleshooting multi-component electromechanical assemblies and problem-solving in larger systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of common engineering design best practices and fundamentals of engineering change control processes.
  • Working knowledge of Altium Designer or similar PCB design software, including schematic capture and PCB layout.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical CAD tools such as Solidworks, AutoCAD, and Autodesk Inventor.
  • Working knowledge of electronic product manufacturing processes, standards, and equipment, including basic limitations and best practices for printed circuit assemblies and bare fabrications.
  • Working knowledge of analog and digital electronics design fundamentals.
  • Working knowledge of relevant medical device safety standards and ability to perform electrical and mechanical safety tests as needed.
  • Working knowledge of applicable EMC standards and ability to participate in EMC tests with limited training and guidance.
  • Ability to obtain necessary travel documents if travel is required.
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of working with Cadwell equipment, which may include lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, reaching, bending, standing, walking, sitting, and other listed movements and capabilities.
  • Ability to use a computer extensively and communicate in writing and verbally.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a regulated environment, ideally in a medical or similarly safety- or reliability-focused industry.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain released medical devices and design and release product improvements through engineering change orders.
  • Analyze nonconforming production materials and field returns to identify failure modes, root causes, and opportunities to improve product reliability and performance.
  • Monitor the component library, address obsolescence by identifying alternatives, develop qualification test plans, perform verification tests, and release component updates.
  • Develop equipment to meet design engineering test requirements and collaborate with Service, Operations, and Supplier Quality Engineering to improve test and manufacturing fixtures and processes.
  • Participate in and sometimes lead design reviews, providing feedback that supports reliable and manufacturable product designs.
  • Plan, perform, and document verification testing for new and existing products.
  • Plan, perform, and document inspections of materials from subcontractors and vendors, collaborating with supplier quality engineering on identified issues.
  • Support and lead portions of the transfer of design, assembly, and test requirements into manufacturing for new and modified products.
  • Collaborate with design and manufacturing engineering to support efficient, scalable production handoffs.
  • Share engineering insight with engineers, production staff, and service personnel on troubleshooting, analysis, and engineering best practices.
