About The Position

Starbucks is seeking a passionate Senior Labor Relations Business Partner to join a dedicated cross-functional team. This role will provide labor relations support to partners and leaders across retail, manufacturing, and distribution. The function will support local leaders with resources to help navigate union activity with dignity and respect, while partnering with local leaders and support teams to proactively enhance the partner experience across North America. This involves activating strategic partner and store initiatives, leveraging analytics and data for insights, and advocating for all partners. The ideal candidate demonstrates Starbucks' Mission & Values and has a proven track record of excellence in delivering priorities, problem-solving, building capability and leadership, and developing high-performing teams.

Requirements

  • Understanding of labor and human resources related laws and regulations including but not limited to the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA), Title VII, ADA, ADAAA, ADEA, FMLA & state/local laws and ordinances.
  • 3-7 years of experience in Labor Relations, Human Resources, and/or Employee Relations.
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively building collaborative and trusting partnerships with union counterparts.
  • Experience integrating labor relations practices into business operations in a way that supports and enhances overall business operations.
  • Has a sound understanding of employee relations practices.
  • Ability to articulate perspective and influence via effective verbal and written communication skills to peers and leaders.
  • Solid technical business writing skills.
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Experience in solving complex opportunities.
  • Proficient in technology and use of case management systems. For example: Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Zoom, Microsoft Teams and project management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead market engagement strategies that prioritize labor relations education, coaching support and risk mitigation for assigned markets while building leader capabilities.
  • Ensure alignment with Starbucks’ Mission and Values in all labor relations activities.
  • Analyze business and partner experience data to identify trends and inform decision-making.
  • Cultivate relationships with union representatives and internal stakeholders to maintain positive partner relations.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor in all labor relations matters, proactively minimizing risks to the partner experience.
  • Facilitate strategic guidance and consultation on all labor relations issues across retail, support and PRO teams.
  • Facilitate training courses and lead meetings.
