About The Position

IPSecure is seeking a Senior Kubernetes Software Engineer to design, develop, deploy, and support scalable containerized applications. The position collaborates with DevOps and platform engineering teams to automate deployment pipelines, improve application reliability, and address complex challenges across Kubernetes environments. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with cloud-native technologies, infrastructure automation, and production systems, and values continuous improvement and collaborative problem-solving. The role is onsite in San Antonio, Texas, and requires an active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance.

Requirements

Must possess an active Secret clearance and be able to obtain TS/SCI clearance.
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent experience may be substituted.
10+ years of software development experience, including building, deploying, and supporting production-grade applications.
5+ years of hands-on Kubernetes experience, including deployment, orchestration, scaling, and cluster management.
Understanding of containerization technologies, particularly Docker, and their role in modern application architecture.
In-depth knowledge of Kubernetes networking, service discovery, DNS, ingress controllers, and load balancing.
Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Go, Python, Java, or Node.js, used in application and infrastructure development.
Practical experience with CI/CD tools and pipelines such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI.
Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or AWS CloudFormation.
Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Fluentd, and the Elastic Stack.
Analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly debugging complex distributed systems.
Verbal and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.

Nice To Haves

Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD).
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Experience with service mesh technologies such as Istio or Linkerd.
Experience with serverless technologies such as Knative or OpenFaaS.
Experience using Git from the command line.
Experience with the Linux CLI and Linux scripting.
Contributions to open-source Kubernetes projects.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and deploy scalable containerized applications in Kubernetes environments, including Kubeadm and RKE2.
Author and maintain Kubernetes manifests, including Deployments, Services, Ingress, ConfigMaps, and Secrets, following configuration-management best practices.
Implement, manage, and optimize CI/CD pipelines to automate application build, test, and deployment workflows.
Diagnose and resolve deployment, infrastructure, and runtime issues across Kubernetes clusters to maintain availability and performance.
Monitor application health and resource utilization using Prometheus, Grafana, or similar tools.
Develop and maintain centralized logging and monitoring solutions to support observability and incident response in Kubernetes environments.
Collaborate with DevOps and platform engineering teams to enhance Kubernetes infrastructure, application resilience, and delivery processes.
Contribute to infrastructure-as-code initiatives using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or Helm.
Keep current with Kubernetes, cloud-native technologies, and container orchestration approaches, including Podman, Docker, and Bootc.
Participate in agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
