Senior Java Middleware Engineer
About The Position
Dhaka Technologies Limited Company (DTLC) is hiring a Senior Java Middleware Engineer on behalf of the District of Columbia Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO), supporting the DC Department of Motor Vehicles (DC DMV). The role supports modernization of the DC DMV Enterprise Application, Destiny, by connecting it to modern digital technologies while minimizing disruption to existing systems. The engineer will design and develop Java EE RESTful web services in accordance with REST architectural principles using JAX-RS. The selected candidate will learn DC DMV infrastructure and application implementation requirements and help facilitate continuous feature releases. The position is classified as a Master-level category requiring 16 years of total work experience and a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
Requirements
- 12 years of genuine core Java development experience with strong back-end development skills.
- 7 years of experience with Java annotations, generics, reflection, inheritance, object-oriented design, NIO, and Bean Validation.
- 5 years of Spring Boot application development experience.
- 5 years of experience with Spring Java Config, dependency injection, and autowiring concepts.
- 5 years of Spring Integration development experience.
- 5 years of Spring Web Services development experience.
- 5 years of synchronous and asynchronous programming experience, including callbacks, futures, timeouts, and error handling.
- 5 years of experience with Maven project builds.
- 5 years of experience with Git version control repositories.
- 5 years of experience with Tomcat, Jetty, or Undertow application servers.
- 5 years of experience in a Linux working environment.
- 5 years of experience with the Jira issue tracker.
- 3 years of OpenShift container-based application development and deployment experience.
- 3 years of experience working with mainframe CICS containers and channels using a JCA connector.
- 3 years of knowledge of CI/CD practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in IT or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 16 years of total work experience, as specified for the Master-level category.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop Java EE RESTful web services using JAX-RS and REST architectural principles.
- Connect the DC DMV Destiny enterprise application with modern applications while minimizing disruption to existing systems.
- Gain an understanding of DC DMV infrastructure and application implementation requirements to facilitate continuous feature releases.
