Senior Java Engineer (Azure, PostgreSQL)
About The Position
Optiveum is the recruitment and contracting party for this role, and the selected candidate will sign a cooperation agreement directly with Optiveum. The engineer will join the team of a global client to design and build event-driven Java and Spring Boot microservices running on AKS, backed by Azure Database for PostgreSQL and integrated through Kafka and Azure Service Bus. The position is full-time and hybrid, requiring three days per week at the client's office in Wrocław. Candidates must live in or within commuting distance of Wrocław. The stated start date is December 2026. The rate is 133–158 PLN per hour on a B2B basis, depending on experience: 133–149 PLN/h for 10–12 years of relevant experience and 149–158 PLN/h for 12+ years. Technical tasks during recruitment are completed live. Candidates should have their programming environment and required tools and language/framework versions prepared and tested. AI tools, coding assistants, and code generators are not allowed during the interview. The selected candidate will undergo a background check, so CV dates and employers must be accurate.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of experience with Java and Spring Boot, including microservices and REST APIs.
- Extensive hands-on PostgreSQL experience in production environments.
- Experience with Azure Database for PostgreSQL – Flexible Server.
- Experience with AKS/Kubernetes.
- Hands-on experience with Azure Service Bus and Kafka.
- Strong knowledge of event-driven architecture and distributed systems.
- Experience with Liquibase and database migrations integrated with CI/CD.
- Good knowledge of Azure services, including Azure Monitor and Key Vault.
- Experience with observability, troubleshooting, and Linux-based environments.
- Fluent English.
- Polish or EU citizenship, or a permanent residence/work permit valid for at least 12 months.
Nice To Haves
- Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and CQRS.
- Redis and NoSQL, such as Oracle NoSQL.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop Java and Spring Boot microservices and REST APIs.
- Build event-driven integrations using Kafka and Azure Service Bus.
- Design, optimize, and maintain production PostgreSQL databases, including Azure Database for PostgreSQL – Flexible Server.
- Manage database schema changes and migrations with Liquibase as part of CI/CD pipelines.
- Deploy and run services on AKS/Kubernetes.
- Ensure observability, monitoring, and troubleshooting of distributed systems using Azure Monitor and related tooling.
- Handle secrets and configuration securely with Azure Key Vault.
