About The Position

Inetum Polska is seeking an experienced Senior PostgreSQL / Data Engineer to join a team building a high-performance, enterprise-grade data platform for the financial markets and FX domain. The platform processes approximately 40 million messages per day across 46 currency pairs, delivers near-real-time market data with refresh intervals as short as one second, and manages large-scale data storage with two-year retention. It integrates with messaging systems such as RabbitMQ and provides frequently refreshed data to downstream teams. The role contributes to designing, developing, and optimizing this platform, with an emphasis on high availability, scalability, and performance in a demanding financial environment.

Requirements

• Strong commercial experience with PostgreSQL.
• Very good understanding of PostgreSQL architecture.
• Hands-on experience with table partitioning.
• Strong knowledge of database indexing and query optimization.
• Experience with B-Tree, Hash, GIN, GiST, and/or BRIN indexes.
• Experience building or maintaining ETL processes.
• Experience working with large-scale / Big Data environments.
• Good knowledge of Linux.
• Experience working with performance-critical database environments.
• Fluent Polish and English.

Nice To Haves

• Python.
• Kafka or RabbitMQ.

• CI/CD.
• Experience in the banking, financial services, or FX domain.
• Experience with real-time or near-real-time data processing.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the design, development, and optimization of an enterprise-grade data platform for the financial markets / FX domain.
• Process data for 46 currency pairs and approximately 40 million messages per day.
• Support near-real-time processing and provide downstream teams with frequently refreshed data, with updates available every second.
• Manage large-scale data storage with two-year retention.
• Integrate the platform with messaging systems such as RabbitMQ.
• Design solutions that support high availability, scalability, and performance in a demanding financial environment.
